Are you serious? I've been to few places in the MIddle East, namely Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar. These guys aren't all flying mini planes crashing into buildings there, its very peaceful and they are RICH AS HELL. That's it.

Remember, if Middle East is where the bombings are from, Middle East is the safest place to be. :D

It's not a place you'd go for sightseeing though, unless you just can't get enough of sand and the colour brown.

The 3 places you mentioned are fine Qatar hosts a motogp race, these places are being built up around tourism. The sheiks know oil won't last forever and need to create something for eir countries to survive on once the wells run dry.

More details on this today say that this will be a Grade 2 track, not Grade 1. The intention seems to be to have a track that can be upgraded to suit F1 should the opportunity to attract an F1 race arises.

Man, how do all of these countries expect to get a Grand Prix with only a 20-race calendar?

I know!

The stability of the beating heart of the sport (i.e. Europe) has never looked more rocky :(

maybe do more back to back races and stop flying from europe to us to rurope to asia and do it logically, could easily fit a few more in.

Ecclestone plays down Iran’s F1 chances

Finally he is doing a reasonable thing.Take it from Turkey and give it to Iran?It would cause the same ''problems''

Nothing is being given to Iran. They are building a Grade 2 facility, not Grade 1 which is required for F1. MrE and F1 in general has not had any involement with this track!

As for Turkey loosing it's GP, well it was making a huge loss. Sound business sense to drop it. Sucks fot the local fans and I think most people have every sympathy but makes sense - besides worse things happen at sea, apparently.

Sport should have nothing to do with politics, .

Wrong! Sport cannot ignore political reality, what would the world think of Formula 1 if it went to a state that murders its citizens simply for voicing their dissent?? Do you think that would help or hinder Formula 1's status in the world?? Sport is always linked to politics whether you like it or not.

They already do. I think China done this sort of thing, however this thread is not about thepolitical rights and wrongs of the nations that F1 visits.

take a breath, put your feet up, read it again.

i said it should not have anything to do with it, not it doesnt.

For the record America and the UK commit atrocities just as morbid they just preach a moral high ground, at least china tells them to shove it up their asses and mind their own
business.

Need i remind you how many Vietnamese, Korean, Iraqi, Afghan
nationals are dead as a result of such jingoistic artogance of the west?

?

Of course it should have something to do with it! Politics is in everything, and nothing escapes it, its a reality, sport cannot pretend otherwise or try to 'rise above it all' as for your 'jingoistic arrogance nonsense, this is the real world, there are no absolutes, but that does not mean we should ligitimise Ahmajinedad and his cronies butchering their own people, believe me im still queasy about China & Bahrain still being on the list. At least the US / UK have democratic process!!

And im quite capable of reading thank you and dont require to 'put my feet up' maybe you should actually think about what your saying instead of gobbing off without merit!
