Yeah, for cricket the Indian team has always been a bigger influence than England - the British Pakistani kids don't let you get away with saying you support England if Pakistan beat India in cricket, and family certainly won't support England over India.
Although for football its normally England, guess its just which sport is bigger for which country, cricket is played in England but for most kids like me (South Asian background) its the motherland where your cricket influence is from.
