Worst thing I heard when reading this was Lewis admitting the car handled better than last year, but just lacked downforce. That's considered one of the worst things you can say about a car. If a car has the downforce, but is just unbalanced, sometimes a driver can drive around the problem, or a fix can be found. But if a car lacks of downforce in the first place, uh oh. It's still early days though. They could turn things around.

McLaren alternate designers, and so correct me if I'm wrong, but Pat Fry was suppose to design the 2011 car. But of course he jumped ship to Ferrari recently. Wondering did Fry still have anything to do with the design of the 2011 car before he moved to ferrari. Enter conspiracy theories, =D

No! You didn't :yikes:

It's all about mileage in these early stages to gain data and reliability, and from there you can move on with upgrades because you know where to go with developments. The fundamental problem for McLaren is that they don't have this mileage yet.

They're sandbagging! Macca is 2 seconds faster than the rest and dont want the others to know!! They're fooling everyone :hehe:

They better get this car in shape fast. All that big talk from Whitmarsh about how this car is going to be so radical and amazing is going to look freakin stupid if they start off 2009 all over again.

Actually whats most concerning about all of this is Mclaren management. I think it plagued them last year when it came to the development of the EBD and now it looks like a lack of management is showing up in the early testing. Hopefully they will get it all sorted and not to jump the gun as this could all be bogus, but it seems Mclaren may have more than just technical issues.

That would mean he and his team designed that 2009 McLaren too, so it's more plausible to suggest he's just not very good.

If you wanna ignore the fact that he designed the '05 and '07 cars (McLaren's best two efforts since 1998) yeah!

This is the drawback of revealing their car late....
Mclaren is good when it comes to solving problems...

I'm not expecting them to challenge for the podium in australia but I am hoping that they will be able to use australia as some sort of "extended test"...

It's still more plausible than the idea he sabotaged the design process.

Perhaps phrasing as "didn't do a very good job" would be better? Newey's designed some stinkers in his time too.
