Discuss the sport you love with other motorsport fans

Considering Mercedes were the majority owners in McLren for most of Lewis's career it's rather pathetic of his new teams owners too... Oh wait one win in 3 years, not pathetic at all!

Out of all their failures so far which is uncountable, Mercedes would be responsible for engine related failures...which were many in the 90s but since 2005, the Merc was considered one of the best if not the best engine to have in Formula 1.

I'm sure you won't resort to blaming Mercedes for the strategic, pitstops, fueling, and general aero uncompetitiveness of McLaren on Mercedes as well would you. I mean, 1 World Championship in 13 years compared to none in 3 years as a full outfit is definitely a fantastic statistic which you should be proud of.

I'm a proud fan of McLaren, its a sport you cant always win. do Liverpool fans just give up on their club?
<MOST OF CONTENT REMOVED, WB> one reminder.

Thread Reopened but with the following conditions:

  1. Keep the discussion constructive and moving forward..
  2. Any member name calling, using personal insults and generally being a troll will get an instant and immediate warning and/or ban!
  3. All discussion related to Lewis Hamilton must remain in this thread unless it's specifically related to the other relevant threads.
  4. Any extreme and repetitive comments from both ends of the spectrum will be deleted, we've heard them all many times before.
  5. If you have something positive to say about another driver, say it in THEIR support thread this way we can generate constructive discussion there instead of creating an argument here.
Clear? There will be zero tolerance to anyone breaking or even flirting with the boundaries of the above.

I'd also like to point y'all to the General Forum Rules, read them and make sure you comply with them!

It seems I missed your 'colorful' post so will respond to that 1 line now:

I was never a full team supporter. When I first started watching F1, I supported David Coulthard. Mika was my 2nd favourite...but that was it. I supported the team since the drivers could do well only if the team did well. Then came Kimi Raikkonen, and I liked both drivers equally and of course a fan of McLaren since they seemed to be faithful to their policy of getting the best drivers available and their choice seemed to be in agreement with mine! :hehe:

Then came Montoya which proved to be more of a disruption, and I only supported Kimi. Didn't care what happened to Montoya since I saw him as a trouble maker albeit a highly talented driver. Then came Alonso...when it was the only year I didnt care one bit about McLaren and simply supported 1 car in Ferrari (Kimi). Kimi then goes, and I start to take an interest in that rookie who humiliated the 2X WDC in McLaren...and find myself supporting 1 car in McLaren again.

The only time I looked out for a team per say, was BMW during their short time in F1. And right now, I see myself supporting Mercedes since I see a team which is seriously gearing for the future by appointing the best driver in the field and a team manager who has the best track record as an influential person in the past 15 years in whichever team he's been in.

Just because you are a team fan for the past who cares how many years, does not make you a better fan or make your opinions more important. There are many types of fan in F1, and I'm more of a driver fan since I find it harder to relate to an entire team (since I don;t hold any shares in any company in F1 to date). Trust this clears it up for you.

I wonder if I went back through this thread and deleted everything that wasn't 'discussion', I wonder how many pages we'd have... not that I am going to do that, not enough time in the World! :yikes:

I also wonder if I deleted all of DD's posts that were just YouTube videos and "A bit harsh :D " comments, I wonder how many posts would remain? :hehe:

Squabbles mainly because of pollutants (certain people who come in to just bash a support thread) but whatever the argument...the most popular thread = most popular/influential driver liked or not, full stop.

To answer the first question, most of my posts on this thread would remain. :D

The second part of the seemingly endless argument, let's cut it out, we've all had our say.
cookinflat6, your most recent post was moved over the the Mclaren thread as it served no useful purpose here.

I encourage anyone that has even the slightest inkling to post anything on this thread, to read it from the beginning. There isn't anything that you could possibly state that hasn't already been said. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll pull your hair out, you'll laugh twice again at all those that have seen their demise from this forum because of this thread and then... you'll likely not post whatever it was that you were going to say.
