Button: "Obviously, the car is very quick but I’m five or six tenths off Lewis and that’s a lot of lap time. It’s going to be difficult now. I’ve been happy with it all weekend and the pace has been good, but in qualifying it just wasn’t there for me and I’m not sure why; if I knew, I would have sorted it out, so for the moment I just don’t know.”

Is it possible that Button is just now figuring out that there is a lot of lap time between Lewis and him? Lap time he can't recover? Can't be. No one on the team told him? He hasn't been looking at the data all year? It seems he's reverted back to the Button of mid-season when he couldn't find any grip while Lewis, in the same car, is on pole and just loving his car. 2013 is going to be miserable for Button...I can already tell.

I'm just saying...

As a 'racing driver' he isn't at the liberty to just say the short and sweet "I'm nowhere in Lewis' league".

I suppose it occurred to him after Martin, in his own Whitmarsh-like way, said it. Source? Please refer to your signature. :hehe:

At Monaco Jenson went fastest in FP2, so he has no excuses come quali that he cant find the grip or balance

Yes because they always setup everything exactly the same in practice and qualifying, and of course race conditions will be exactly the same.

Pathetic.

Cool vid of Hamilton on youtube, shows the best and worst of both Lewis and Mclaren together. Probably an alliance which was meant to bring Lewis to F1 and some success, as for greatness he's got to achieve it elsewhere.

one day he will realise how good he has had it at Mclaren, by then it will be too late, as he will be sitting in Schumachers car.

But he hasn't had it all good, it could have been a dream but it wasn't, it's why that video is so sad. So frustratingly sad.

Schumachers car? If Old Man Schumi had pulled his weight this year, they wouldn't even need to worry about Sauber...Rosberg has got more than double the points Schum has collected and its been a bad year. No one knows what Merc can achieve next year with Lewis, not you nor I.

I am sure it would of been better than if he had spent his time at Mercedes.

You misunderstand why I think it's sad. Lewis will always be grateful to McLaren, and very sad himself I suspect at how things have turned out. It's difficult to explain and I'm not doing very well

However to deal with your Mercedes comment at face value, he couldn't have been there all his time because they've only been around three years. And if you take the pre Mercedes team he'd have a championship, same as he's got now.

I do not think he would have as many wins or close misses to the championship

using phone, so beware of predictive text errors.

A few less wins and a few less heartaches (close misses are the worst, let me tell you either Vettel or Alonso are going to have a much bigger heartbreak at the end of this season compared to anyone else).

The point being, McLaren should have done much more with what they had....but the way they wasted their resources is just pathetic to say the least.

Considering Mercedes were the majority owners in McLren for most of Lewis's career it's rather pathetic of his new teams owners too... Oh wait one win in 3 years, not pathetic at all!
