It looks like these new radio rules of not relaying performance related messages affected Rosberg again. Couldn't dial out the oversteer which pretty much cost him the race

Surprising for one so clever.

RC, it was interesting when Nico explained his plight and said that he and Lewis had the same setup so Lewis must have had the same problem...but Lewis didn't. And visually you could see. Lewis could hug the inside of corners, carrying the same speed whereas Nico's car would slide away on entry, taking him to the far side of the corner (especially at places like Spoon). That's one of the places where Lewis made up a lot of time. Lewis was definitely set up for a better wet race than dry quail. Smart driver. Wait...

Such fun!

Nigel Mansell hugging Lewis on the podium today seemed very genuine, like the was comfortable and ready to hand over the title of winningest Bristish F1 driver to Lewis.

Yes it did . And I feel it wasn't always that way. it was like he resented the emergence of a Lewis a bit. But now he seems cool with it and genuinely pleased for Lewis.

Indeed, it did look like Hamilton was putting himself in danger by staying out because his team couldn't tell him his relative lap times but he was comfortably faster when he pitted.

They were doing different lines, Hamilton started of with the wet lines and moved to dry lines but Rosberg started of with dry and moved onto wet when he realised Hamilton was faster which was when Hamilton switched and as such his tyres were in better condition.

Yeah it was genuine and he looked and sounded a bit emotional/choked.

The best news to come out of Japan today is that Nige has his tash back

Ain't nobody gonna disagree with this one! And he just doesn't age! Looks the same now as he did 30 years ago - but then that's mainly because he looked 60 when he was still in his twenties...

Is it just me or did Nige quickly lose interest in anything Vettel had to say. Half way through Vettel's podium interview, Nige's attitude was like, "Enough already! OK Lewis, back to you." (Oh dear...awkward!)

Unfortunately Nige has always had the air of a retired bank manager.

When Hamilton said it felt like Silverstone 2008 it explained why he pulled away. In those conditions he's unbeatable. He had the pace over Nico
all race. He was really getting slowed down on the first part of the lap from turn 1 and through the esses. Nico did a good job up until the PS,
and didn't appear to be suffering from pressure but like Hungary he doesn't like those drying inter tyres/conditions much. Never has as far as I know.

Another good drive from Vettel. Maybe Ferrari's money won't be wasted afterall. Not completely well spent either, but they should get a decent enough
return. Both RBs had the confidence for clinical overtaking, but those Williams made them look esp good. I imagined after a strong quali and starting to
master their aero the Williams' would have been better in the wet than they were.

Button getting the job done yet again. He leaves the saturday heroics to the playstation generation then shows them what to do on big boys' day.
Mag almost came a cropper overtaking again. If McLaren keep him he has to up his Sunday game. I'm sure he's actually getting scrappier in that respect.
They might aswell have kept Perez. Another good result for Vergne; he's having a good season overall, but obviously Papa Marko prefers the younguns.

That was funny. He wanted to make it all about Nige, as usual.

I'm still not completely sold on Mags but considering his short stint in F1 to this point and he has had some flashes of near brilliance, maybe he just needs more experience and will come good in another season. Having a decent car will help so McLaren has to shoulder part of the burden for his performance. The upside too is that he will have a good car developer in Alonso to help guide him. Lets see how he goes.

Nigel didn't seem to want Seb to say much though... talked right over him when he was expressing concern for Jules. I wasn't particularly impressed with that

His first race flattered to deceive. It had the air of Hamilton about it, an assured, quick driver with a good head. From then it's largely been fast but needs a lot
of work come raceday. He hasn't gotten higher than seventh since. Luckily he can learn racecraft, and speed is more inate, but he doesn't seem to be learning
at the moment, even from Button, a man who if nothing else has racecraft on his side. He just seems rash to me, which will hopefully will be lost with maturity;
he's suffering because of it, esp the Monza penalty so his reputation already precedes him. On pure talent, even potential talent, I don't think he deserves
the seat over Button next year.

Mags is around 1/30th cheaper, is faster, in his first year with another 15 of continuous improvement

yet has half the points Button has, he is a relative giant compared to Button this season, luckily it's those like Ron making decisions now and not the love struck tules who have been disturbed by a fake

In all fairness I didn't expect the SC when Sutil crashed at it looked like they could've cleared in under double waved yellows. The onus is on the pitwall to inform their respective drivers to slow down. Like driving on a motorway, a broken down car is an easy distraction and one of the biggest causes of accidents.

Thoughts with Bianchi though, not sure what went on there.

I pretty much agree with this. Double waved yellows means big back-off. Those tractors are there every race doing that job, and whilst I've always worried a car would hit
one like here, that's probably only my neurosis. Just horribly unfortunate. Like Senna, it wasn't the actual crash that is the decisive factor, but that sliver of ill fortune
