Really? I always thought its a small part of it, with the real point of motorsport seeing great racing from the start to the finish. Maybe we just have different perspectives on it.

I liked all of Jenson's moves, they were really unexpected and went to show why he is a real mastermind in looking for the perfect spot to make a clean move. From the outside they may have seemed easy, but you gotta realise the tough job was how he was able to put himself in the position to capitalise.

A champions race today.

Blablabla. MS made an error exactly at the time when Jenson was behind, the 2nd lesmos before the set of corners and Jenson was at the right place at right time. He's a mastermind at riding his luck, nothing more.

Isn't being "at the right place at the right time" the whole point of motorsport?

Lewis dropped the ball at the start of the race, and Jenson took advantage. Simple as that.

Nope Jensen dropped the ball by going from 3rd to sixth at the start of the race.Jensen was able to capitalize on Micheal holding up Lewis by doing illegal moves and nearly running him off the track and getting away with it.

The BBC just did one of their pole-lap comparisons between SV and LH. The McLaren was slightly faster in the first half of the lap, but lost it all in the second half. :irked:

It's weird red bull were running less wing yet faster in the fast corners of the last sector.

Matchett was making an argument for that being due to their superb under-car aero.

:loser::dummyspit:

Schumacher's defenses were clean.

given he was going against Hamilton, no surprise to see you say this. There was more than 1 instance where he moved more than once.

Only to take the next corner and even before the braking. There was not a single swerve on the straight or on the braking zones. It was ON THE LIMIT, i'll give you that. And Schu got lucky that Lewis porbably was thinking conservatively after all that's happened. But that's how it goes...

Well you're blind as a bat then. If Lewis was in MIchael's car today, I can imagine how you'd be screaming bloody murder.

he on more than one occasion moved twice in the braking zone to defend his position, plus a few other moves on the straights. I mean Lewis gets s*** from you guys especially Alonso fans yet when someone else does it, its just good racing...

The only move of Schumacher's that really was out of order was the one between the 2nd chicane and lesmo 1 imo... All the others (defending the inside then moving back to the racing line when it appears that the chasing driver isn't going to really challenge), you see drivers doing stuff like that week in week out, so i don't see the big deal about those. When Hamilton went onto the grass, that was Schumacher's line to take through that bend and it was always going to be up to Hamilton to yield (would have been the same if the positions were reversed no doubt, going on past history). The Lesmo one was definitely wrong though. Although i don't think Hamilton would have passed round the outside of that particular corner anyway, so it's all kinda moot. Stunning racing to watch though, makes a bit of a change to see it actually given how over-effective DRS has tended to be up until now! :)

Senna got some points and was unlucky not to get more, solid drive though.

Gotta hand it to Vettel, the others are too busy fighting each other and not getting themselves straight, and he just walks off race after race because of this.

Bizarre attrition rate - i never heard what happened to Sutil or D'Ambrosio (although it would appear the latter had a problem even before the race started, judging by how he didn't get off the start properly) on the BBC coverage, anyone know?

Why? Lewis has certainly done worse.

I agree mostly with you that Schumi is Schumi and just racing, your starting to lose your integrity as of late in my humble opinion with ever more obvious digs at Hamilton.

No he hasnt, he has never done stuff remotely like that. Im not even interested to hear what you think he has.

Pathetic response. You're not even bothered to defend your point "Lewis has done much worse"...vague and so simplistic, okay Im done here.

You'd think you'd be celebrating your namesakes podium instead of Lewis' fourth place finish. Meh, to each his own kicks I guess.

While the discussion on the champs at the front is going crackers, I thought I'd mention some other standout performances from what was a tremendous race in the Monza sunshine. :)

Over the past 6 or 7 races, the trend has been that the driver who qualifies in 18th always goes on the score points. Today, this trend continued, with Jaime Alguersuari climbing very well from 18th to 7th. Excellent performance, and he continues to overshadow Buemi.

Paul Di Resta reduces his points deficit to Adrian Sutil by obtaining a well-earned 8th. Continues to show us all that he's got much promise.

Bruno Senna drives well to pick up his first points in F1, despite being hampered by the carnage at the first chicane. Hope he can build on this.

Lotus increase their prospects of earning 10th in the constructors' standings with 13th and 14th positions with Heikki Kovalainen and the newly signed Jarno Trulli respectively.

Mustn't forget that Daniel Ricciardo outqualified Vitantonio Liuzzi yesterday for the first time, but all was lost when the car seemed to stall on the grid. Bad day all-round for HRT. Curtains after the first corner.

Why not discuss the action on track rather than attacking each other's personalities?

Vettel, has driven, a phenomenal season in a phenomenal car... twenty years from now, it will be on one of the most dominant cars poll somewhere on some forum. Vettel has driven the hell out of it, and my hat goes off to him.

EDIT: oops, wrong thread, but what the hell, I'll leave it here as well, he deserves it.

It's going to be weird next year, it's still up in the air, whether Kubica will return to Renault, but I do hope Senna does enough to warrant the job. He's shown solid performance and has come up to speed quickly. It will be bittersweet regardless.
