I just see Whitmarsh's "praise" of Lewis' drive in Korea as a bit disingenuous. I agree that he drove an amazing race for a point considering he was driving a broken car that was eating rubber faster than Cookie Monster in the NABISCO cookie factory. But to suddenly laud and gush over him to the point of almost proposing marriage during a time when Lewis has had these coincidental back to back suspension "failures" on the back of transmission failures gives me pause. Strikes me as overcompensating...a bit nefarious to he honest. Where was all this man crush when Lewis delivered some phenomenal drives...like Canada and other races? (Going back to some of those interviews, Whitmarsh did praise Lewis but seemingly jumped quickly to Jenson and spent most of the time talking about Jenson still working hard to come to grips with the tyres. Not a pun if it's a fact.)

Martin, Lewis is leaving...just ride out the next few races and call it a season (a wasted one). Lewis is gonna do what Lewis does best...extract every ounce of performance regardless of whether you give him a world-beater of a race car or Grampa Sammy's donkey cart. If you want to play games, Jenson likes games. If Constructors point$ are valuable to you, provide a reliable and quick car...Lewis will get you the trophies and points. But for goodness sakes, pass on the post-race rubbish...please!

Now that I've gotten that off me chest...ooo, what's this? Cookies! :P

I'm just saying...

Totally agree. Absolute b.s. by Whitmarsh and company.

This forum needs a little more discussion on the topic of Lewis Hamilton.

So here goes... I'm actually going to say something NEW.

So Lewis and Nico have been friends for quite some time, good friends apparently, grid friends even. So one thing we haven't talked about but I'm thinking did play a part in the Lewis' move to Mercedes is; conversations and insight into the team he may have gotten form Nico, perhaps things that could only be discussed from a driver's point of view, and maybe even some privy information as to where the team is going, things that perhaps wouldn't be shared by lawyers in the process of contract discussions/negotiations.

ooooow good call. Nico would have the most to loose from tempting Lewis to Mclaren as well. He seemed to have MSC under control. We also finally get to see how good Rosberg really is, weather he beat an on form 7 time world champion or a washed out has been.

Burning, I lean very close to your way of thinking regarding Lewis' flight to AMG. By now, the philosophy of the 2013 car is in place. Where the drivers come into play in the coming months is the mechanical installations (anti-roll bars, suspension layouts, breaking systems, ballasts, etc.) Those things, Lewis and Nico can influence based on their styles. So I venture to think that Lewis got a clear perspective from Nico, someone he trusts...and this says a lot because Lewis clearly doesn't trust many people up and down the paddock. (The late Ray Charles could see that.) So Nico's input coupled with the technical briefs Lewis would have reviewed from Brawn & co. had to set his mind right. I suspect of all of Lewis' team-mates, this coupling with Nico will work the best. Nico strikes me as seeing Lewis as a true yardstick by which to measure himself. It won't be a catastrophe if Lewis beats him because he knows Lewis is one of the top three in the sport.

Nico has been the most quiet of all over this move by Lewis. I'm certain he played a part in Lewis taking The Decision without looking back. Thank you Nico. :)

Ted Kravits said that Lewis appeared isolated and had already disconnected from Mclaren.
