Though banning for an upcoming race will be in consideration I honestly cant see them banning Ferrari for a race afterall its Ferrari....they are special, the fans would be outraged! Unlike Honda no one cared they missed a couple! It's more than likely the sanction will be DSQ from the German race, or just loss of constructor points!

I cared. :(:(

I love the fact Schuey's come out and said he supports team orders!, Really!, Schuey said that!, well you could knock me down with a feather, I could never have predicted such a thing, ( Please read this whole post with a sarcastic voice).

On a serious note though folks, just about everybody in F1 is saying team orders should exist, all the pro's working in F1 don't mind them, well from reading this forum and talking to my mates we as the public don't support them, Lets see how well F1 does with nobody betting on it, watching it or buying tickets to go to it, I think it might be an idea if they take into consideration the people paying for the whole thing, You and me.

How come everyone is so disgusted by Massa letting Alonso back to give them a shot at the title,
But nothing was said when Massa let Kimi past in 2007 so that he would win the Championship in the last race?
what is was so different then?
you don't think it was just a team order then?
and only a few races ago webber was told to turn his fuel mix down,
this was so that Vettle would drive past him,
accept that it ended in a crash.
and right after that, the fuel mix got turned back up.
You can't wipe out team orders, they will happen one way or other.
and why? well simple because they make sense!
F1 is a Team game!!

Okay, I think this is getting out of hand...

Look, we all understand that what Ferrari did at the race was unfair to Massa and unfair to the fans. But the fact that everyone is ASTOUNDED by a team order being given is just ridiculous. What about last years Spanish GP, when Brawn told Rubens that "if you can't set the pace at first, we're going to let Jenson have a go." Now, that sounds like a pretty similar situation if you ask me, a faster driver in 2nd being let through to the demise of the second driver in 1st place.

So yes, I do understand that we were robbed of a good scrap for first. But for the people that think that Ferrari and Alonso are the two worst people on the planet, just know that team orders are regularly given throughout races. I know Ferrari is hated by many but don't involve your own personal feelings in your accusations. I enjoy watching Alonso race, but I know it was a bad move. I can accept that.

So let's just all see what the WMSC say about the situation, and move on. It's like whenever a new superstar in the MLB is revealed that he has taken performance enhancing drugs. I mean, just about everyone in the MLB is taking them, it's really no surprise to me whenever a new name comes out. It's all done for the win, which Ferrari was able to maximize by getting a 1-2 and their top driver (in terms of points, before everyone starts bashing me about skill) 25 points.

Let me also make this clear: I am an Alonso fan and I am not defending what happened. Alonso was catching up to Massa and I was excited to see the battle that was going to come out of it. I was disappointed to see the result, and felt cheated. With that being said, that was not the first time since 2002 team orders were given. It's an evil in F1 that we all have to accept, since F1 is first and foremost a team game. I hope everyone can see the point I'm trying to make, and not bash me for simply being an Alonso fan. Onto next weekend...

All teams will do something ike this to maximize their chances for success and although very shabby on Massa it's their best chance to go for one of the championships. It was made very obvious though but maybe F1 needs this so it can address the issue.

I think Massa knew Alonso was going to take him and he just gave up. Massa turned the situation to make Alonso and Ferrari look bad. With 20 laps to go and Alonso one second behind you and going faster than you, you are in big trouble. Ask hamilton who has lost a couple of races to alonso that way. "Alonso is faster that you" means step on it, after all you do have the same car. Maybe he would have held back alonso, but the vettel would have taken them over both.

I dont think anybody told Massa to let Alonso pass, nobody said go slower. I think if Massa would have put 4 secs on alonso, Ferrari would have been happy just the same. It would have been a shame if Vettel overtook them both, as would be the case with a slow leader of the race. That was ferraries real fear.

Massa slowing down on straight is just shameful for him, what was that? talking about a crybaby. He wanted to do it in a way that would hurt his team. If he is got problems with his team he should solve them otherwise. Shame on Massa, really, unless he can prove that someone told him to go slower.

Fernando is faster than you. Confirm you understood that.

WOW! What a way to say "Thanks for leading the race all this time for us....can you give way??" ROFL!

DSQ Ferrari! :whip:

I have heard other teams say that, it can also mean step on it. What is the big deal. Why was fernando faster than Massa is what should worry you. Why is fernando so much faster than Massa anyways?

I think Massa understood that he no longer is a top pilot, thats why he slowed down on a straight with 20 laps to go!! 20!!! Does anyone really think that massa can hold fernando for 20 laps? Massa would have made one of his mistakes and he knows that. I dont remember any F1 pilot slowing down like that on a straight, what was that about. Massa was trying to cover the fact that he can keep up making his team look bad. The only one that looks bad now is Ferrari.

Team orders will always exist. It's the financial side of racing and there would be no racing without it. It's reality and they should simply delete the stupid rule from the book.

Massa was told for quite some time to pick up his pace. The team was trying to keep him in front. He was then told that Alonso was faster....and he chose to let him by. The same has happened multiple times in other teams. It is the height of all ignorance to go wheel to wheel with your teammate for the lead in a race. When Red Bull did it, they lost two championship leads and caused untold strife in their team which they are still dealing with. When McLaren did it in the same race, the team quickly put a stop to it. Hamilton even came over the radio and asked if the team was stopping Button from making a move. Ferrari did what they had to do and any race fan should understand that. Massa lost some respect in my eyes for blatantly throwing his team under the bus. He isn't a great driver by any means and Ferrari would be better off without him if he is going to be such a douchebag.

Dont forget the (completely contradictory) rule... was put into effect when Ferrari were wiping the floor with everyone and competitors simply couldnt find a way to beat them. So the whine brigade whined... and got their rule change, or clarification as its been mentioned recently.

Exactly, this is being blown out of all proportion. Can you really blame them for wanting to maximize their chance at the WDC, its just simple maths. I just wish they didnt treat us like idiots by taking us for a ride after the race :nono: .

I don't like team orders; never have and never will. I understand that they were part of F1 (legitimately prior to 2003) but at this time they are banned and Ferrari have blatantly broken that rule; the radio message was very thinly veiled; and Rob Smedley saying to Massa "Sorry, just keep with it" after the fact just about puts the nail in the coffin for Ferrari. A $100,000 fine is pocket change; di Montezemolo probably has that in his wallet, Ferrari should have been excluded immediately, it's ridiculous to have to go to a WMSC hearing to hand down punishment. Punishment should be dished out during the race; not in a courtroom weeks later!
