31.2 No driver may start in the race without taking part in at least one practice session on the second day of practice.

So you have to drive on the Saturday then. I guess he won't be taking part.

If the teams agree and the FIA then they could make an exception.

Well, well, well... things look better for Williams now, about time they were due some luck. Rosberg had better make the most of it, he's got a lot of fuel onboard.

Drivers are carrying much higher speed through Suzuka's Degner Curves than when Formula 1 last visited the Japanese track in 2006, that is the view of Jaime Alguersuari after the Spaniard crashed his Toro Rosso at that section of the track during qualifying.

Several drivers, including Alguersuari's team-mate Sebastien Buemi, Mark Webber and Heikki Kovalainen all had accidents at the Degner Curves on Saturday.

The 19-year-old believes that a combination of the higher speeds and rough kerbs on the outside of the corner could be contributing factors to the spate of crashes.

"You need to brake a little bit and stay in sixth gear - it's a really fast corner, much faster than it looks," said Alguersuari. "And when you take a bit of kerb the car gets very unstable.

"Perhaps they should change the kerbs for next year as this is not one of the best tracks for safety in the world.

"You carry a lot more corner speed in these cars than you did in 2006. With the slick tyres it's crazy how fast you can be mid-corner. And there is no run-off here, the wall is quite near to the track."

:rolleyes: Someone please remind me why they replaced Bourdais with this dude.

Sponsorship. To be fair, it wasn't a bad move. Alguersuari has done a very good job for a rookie. However, making the jump from Formula 3 to Formula 1 isn't the best choice at times. He could probably have done with a year in GP2 or something, but that may well have lost him the chance to race in Formula 1 altogether. He's steadily improving and has shown good pace this weekend. He's starting twelfth tomorrow, with a good fuel load. There's every chance he could grab a point or two given his pace this weekend. He's actually shown that he could be a strong points-scorer with some improvement, experience and a better team.

why has button been penalised i just heard on the phone was suprised and think its very harsh

Harsh? Perfectly justified.

Yellow flags were out, he went through the yellow zone and past the incident (inclusive of debris) without lifting. Same as the other three who got penalties for that reason.

the answer somewhere on the previous two pages. not reducing speed under yellow flags. .. bit petty but the rules they say

Not really petty. If you run over that entire front wing at full speed down there, you're likely to do some serious damage to your car and cause a much bigger accident.

exactly, yellow flags are there for a reason. They mean slow down, not continue and hope you avoid debris

Button kept the car nailed through the scene of the accident. He almost hit the broken front wing of Buemi. If he had actually hit it, and then crashed heavily, then we'd be in a whole other pickle.

Anyways, I said either Button or Vettel for the win this weekend, and it really looks like this is Vettel's race to lose. Lewis could be ahead into turn 1, I'd hope not though. But even still, Vettel has more fuel onboard if he needs to overtake Hamilton. So GO VETTEL

ya you right , vettel needs this win and needs to get full points. hamilton really insignificant at the moment but could get in the way of vettel's plans. well lets hope not.

Seriously doubt the Hamilton's case. I don't see how could he interrupt Vettel. The only was is to make a heck of a star, otherwise it's near impossible. If vettel doesen't make an error or car does not brake down, this race should be his.

I have a note to make. I'm pissed at Mclaren for giving Kovy a heavier car all the time. Today also he had like 10kg heavier car than Lewis, how the hell could we know his full potential when he can't get decent qualifying position. Okay in Monza he did a fcked up but most of the time he has much heavier car than Lewis which makes it very hard for him to score big points imo.

If the race is anything like qualifying then we could get a few safety cars and that's another chance to use the KERS on Vettel I suppose.
