Looks like there going to abandon the idea of safety car restart for 2015.

Thank goodness for that, finally some common sense, something that is not very common in F1

...Now I'm watching F1 from the other side of the fence - the side where Hamilton and Alonso fans have been for the last 5 years or so; hoping for a change in regulations to even the field. Now the sport that I was madly in love with is not worth getting up at 2am for anymore. I also don't see a very sustainable future for the sport, and I suddenly want a lot of changes to take place. But yet I know that if Vettel was still winning races, I'd be as happy as Larry - it's funny thing that...

Don't lose heart, Big!! Sooner or later, the ball bounces the right way!!

Two things that amaze me:

1) all the dry years Hamilton faced, and all the Lewis fans were still here. Still discussing. Still supporting. The moment Vettel has any sign of difficulty, his fans run and hide as its too hard to cope. they stop discussing. They stop supporting...

Not sure if it's that simple! Just because people stop posting, discussing, etc.,
doesn't necessarily mean they don't support their favourite driver/team.

You're a smart guy! I'm betting you can figure that out, just like you think you have me all figured out!

I'm flattered you think I'm so smart, but really curious about the comment, it seemed as if you had a strong opinion on the topic, certainly strong enough to comment, leaving it like that feels vapid.

You're saying you don't really have an opinion, just a strange unbridled impulse to insert a vapid comment on everything?

By the way, this is my first post since Suzuka - did you miss me? :wavey: I don't know when I will next post, but rest assured I've still been lurking around and have enjoyed reading some of the posts. Obviously for me this season has been a lot more difficult to watch, as someone who's thoroughly enjoyed Vettel's dominance for the last 4 years. It's a shock to my system to see Ricciardo doing so well against him, and it's a shock to my system that a driver who I really don't like has won the championship this year - even though he thoroughly deserved it.

Now I'm watching F1 from the other side of the fence - the side where Hamilton and Alonso fans have been for the last 5 years or so; hoping for a change in regulations to even the field. Now the sport that I was madly in love with is not worth getting up at 2am for anymore. I also don't see a very sustainable future for the sport, and I suddenly want a lot of changes to take place. But yet I know that if Vettel was still winning races, I'd be as happy as Larry - it's funny thing that.

Also I have become very tired of reading some of the views that are expressed by a wide majority of the forum. I'm not going to mention it here, but the same themes keep presenting themselves. I've tried avoiding a lot of the threads which I know will annoy me, but they just seem to keep popping up everywhere. So that is another reason why I've been pretty quiet and will probably continue to shy away from posting so often.

So... until next time, whether that is tomorrow or when Vettel wins his 5th World Championship at Ferrari, I just want to say thanks to everyone who've made my time enjoyable here. Enjoy your off-season, and hopefully we catch up with the Mercs next year...

As to who I will be supporting? It's still a mystery, but for now I feel that I won't be supporting anyone next year. Will I be a neutral observer, or just disinterested? I don't know....

You know what BA, you don't have to explain your beliefs, you don't have to rationalize your opinions and you certainly don't have to apologize for how you feel. It's refreshing to see someone that just said, I dislike the guy that won, I am shocked at the performance of the guy I supported and the whole F1 world that I was living in has been turned upside down. I really appreciate your honesty. I appreciate the fact that you realize that what you felt perfectly fine about when it was Vettel doing the winning you now are against. I more importantly appreciate your being forthright in the explanation of it, as I said it's not something you needed to do. But to see you write it, and comment on the fact that you realize that it's a double standard makes me wish that others on this forum could be as open about their intent, choices and opinions as you just have been.

It is very introspective and I'd even go as far as saying altruistic thing you've expressed. Other members on this forum would rather cut off a thumb than be as honest about themselves as you've just done, so I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for that.

Oh I get you. You mean they were fairweather fans and not true F1 fans. Good point Sagi.

You mean, you can accept that not everyone is a Hamilton/Mercedes fan?
That you can accept that some of us just don't care if he wins/they win?
You can accept that some of us prefer to support a different driver/team?

Uh-huh...

Not at all. Just that not everyone feels the need to defend, explain, justify, and rationalize.

So let's get this clear, you will throw in some objections about someone's opinion, but you won't allow them to get an opinion out of your objections, a banal meaningless post is therefore ok?

So now you want to comment on F1 but not offer opinions and therefore meaningless spoilers - could this be a new ultimate version of a logical fallacy?

Let me try it - that's wrong but I don't think it's wrong, I havent thought about it, I'm just saying it's wrong because I can typing

But my point is they are not even here discussing F1 or their driver or anything. They just upped and left. As you say, fairweather supporters who are only interested in the glory years.
