Hamilton might have damaged that tire a bit. On the other hand, Red Bull went really conservative into qualifying. Something is suspicious there.

That was on his second run so he won't start on that set!

Yeah, you're right. But, it's still a ruined set.

Not exactly

I doubt they're going to use more than one set of super softs. It's a loooong race and there may be some fuel conservation strategies deployed if the SC doesn't spend much time out on track.

Do you know Vettel would have moved into 3rd place for all time pole positions today had he gotten pole?

Bloody hell! Good on him!

He's got a long career ahead of him. At the moment, he's the only guy I'd happily see beat all of Schumachers records.

Wow. I had no idea he was even close.

No doubt Vettel will goto Ferrari. I don't pay attention to the records and so on, but the way this guy's bringing in the numbers.... Definitely gotta pay attention to him.

I think last year had something to do with it... it's not like he's been setting the world on fire in 2012. Number three is clearly in the cards for him, but given that Singapore was I think the Red Bull's best shot at a pole, that record may wait till 2013.

Yea. Personally, i dont care much about records; but i think the teams do. They want to be associated with "the guy with the most X ever" and so on.

It's all in Lewis hands, he's been the strongest all weekend. I don't see him not winning without a majestic screwup by him or the team. Unless of course Massa, Romain or other extra causes a classic Piquet like safety car moment.

Kimi screwed up big time his chances. Alonso I expect will drive a defensive race and aim for last podium place and he can deliver that I'm sure.

On the more interesting party side: warm up band for tonight's quali was the original girl band Bananarama; for the younger F1 fans go and ask yr daddy. And after bands include the Pretenders and some teenage group called brown 5 or was it maroon. And tomorrow from Leith, Scotland the proclaimers. So out to the party zone

I beg to differ, Hamilton wasn't the strongest during the weekend ( practice, excluding qualifiers), the fact he took the first place at the starting row doesn't means squat, Singapore's GP is one of the longest ones and quite prone to stupid incidents (like hitting the walls). Most probably Lewis will cause a very big crash during the first lap. That's a quite big possibility knowing that Singapore's race track is so unforgiving

I see it differently. Sure the pole wasn't granted and there were other fast onelap drivers there too. But Lewis was the only one of them that showed race pace in practice (Kimi and di rests too, but they quali form was different )

So if you look other then one fast lap, it's a different ball game.

Just a quick something I thought I'd just post. Lewis Hamilton tweeted these nice pictures.

Lewis Hamilton on Pastor Maldonado:

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton says he will have to be "very cautious" during the Singapore Grand Prix to ensure he does not get involved in an accident.
Hamilton will start from pole position alongside Williams's Pastor Maldonado, with whom he has had a series of collisions in the last 18 months.
"There are some interesting characters around me so I've got to be very cautious," Hamilton said.
"I don't want to get in his way; hopefully he doesn't want to do the same."
Hamilton and Maldonado collided in the European Grand Prix this season, ending the Englishman's race and costing Maldonado a chance of finishing on the podium.
And last year they were involved in incidents at the Monaco and Belgian Grands Prix.
Maldonado has had a controversial season in which he has been given seven penalties for driving incidents.
Hamilton said: "I'm happy for Pastor. He's taken a lot of heat throughout the year. He's obviously a talented young man.
"It's great to see Williams do so well. Hope they have a strong race tomorrow. As long as we get a good start, I think things will be in a good position."

He added: "I hope he races for himself but he's aware that he has some championship contenders around him.
"It's not all or nothing but trying to get a good result for his team - and that will be the same for me."
