Just noticed on the BBC website that all drivers have received warnings about bad language in interviews ...

There's a fine line between being spontaneous and rude. Both Vettel and Kimi crossed it on the podium IMO. I mean, it's a public event and just because you're a sportsman doesn't mean you don't watch your language....all age groups have access to the sports channels.

I'm all for drivers not acting like robots, but a certain level of civility needs to be maintained. If the FIA don't do anything, you might have future podium interviews having Vettel saying stuff like "It was raining like a m*therf(cker but we won it etcetc" where do you draw the line? Personally, I fully support the FIA clamping down immediately...but I rather the podium interviews stop altogether. It's just too cheesy.

Totally agreed. I love having characters in the sport, and flamboyant personalities who relate well to the fans. But the podium was a little cringe by the time it was over. Fair enough, Kimi's "I was having a sh!t" comment at Interlagos in 2006 was comedy gold, but the podium in Abu Dhabi did get a little forced, planned and ever so slightly too much.

Rather DC than me, that's for sure.

Mary Whitehouse would be proud of you! :wavey:

The podium interviews are a bit cheesy but complaining about certain words is a bit prudish. I don't see the problem - we all use these words and kids all know them by the time they're in primary school. You have to remember that English isn't these guys first language and they are on a high after just racing out of their skin for nearly 2 hours and both got results that were pretty amazing and unexpected. It's not as if they were swearing as a matter of course like some people do. It was more just the first word that popped into their heads whilst they were on a bit of a high.

Having said that... Jake Humphrey's relentless apologies to the viewers every time a "naughty" word slips out is bloody annoying too.

Oh dear. I've just come across this... :(

The title, however, is very misleading.

Kid shouldn't have got in his way! I doubt it was deliberate and I'd hardly say he hit the kid. More inadvertently knocked it over. :hehe:

I remember seeing this at the time. It wasn't even Kimi that knocked the kid over - it was the woman with the folder! Watch it a few times and you'll see it's quite clear.

Indeed. As I said, the name of the video is very misleading.
