Some post race comments from Nico. I"m glad he was able to figure it out.
ESPNF1 Nico Rosberg said an incorrect setting meant he did not get the Energy Recovery System (ERS) boost he was expecting while fighting Lewis Hamilton for the lead at the US Grand Prix.

Rosberg led for the first 23 laps of the race but was passed on lap 24 at Turn 12 as Hamilton lunged up the inside and made the move stick. Hamilton went on to take the victory, meaning Rosberg is now 24 points down in the championship with 75 points still up for grabs.

Although Rosberg did not realise it at the time, he had set his ERS boost for a delayed response rather than an instant boost as Hamilton came past.

"When I saw him coming I decided to go for extra boost, but I never got it," Rosberg said. "I just found a new thing that I made a mistake because I used the wrong thing to get me more ERS. I thought I was using the right thing but there was a delay in that one. If I did it with a button it would be immediate, but with a switch there is a delay, so I never got the extra ERS. So I had a big derate, which is why in the last metres he got a good jump on me. So, that was a mistake that I didn't know about.

"I went for extra boost but the way I did it, it only comes on with a delay so I didn't get extra boost at that particular moment."

Rosberg admitted he could have done a better job defending the corner too.

"I am sure I could have done better, but it is a judgement thing. If I defend a lot he will brake late on the outside and get me on the next one, so I thought indicating I am closing the door would have been enough to stop him from trying, but it wasn't. Because I was part way over already and I thought that was enough for him to think he should not try, but it wasn't."

IS that a spoof quote? Please tell me it is!

There is so much laughable content I dont know where to start. Highlights for me:

"I just found a new thing that I made a mistake because I used the wrong thing ..."

"I thought indicating I am closing the door would have been enough to stop him from trying...."

"I thought that was enough for him to think he should not try...."

I think Nico was busy learning a new language at the weekend which is why his mind wandered when pressing the buttons. He now speaks six language having recently aquired 'Double Dutch' :hehe:

Mind you, I have every sympathy with Nico when it comes to button pressing. I go something like this.

Panic, dither, close eyes, press. If nothing happens do random pressings. That chain reaction must have broken down somewhere for Nico.

It was clear at the time that the banning of coaching by Charlie was bound to affect cerebral/copycat Rosberg more than Hamilton. I think it's got the point where Lewis is not necessarily worried about quali in the open tracks because he feels he can get him during the race. The bad news for Nico is that he can't defend as rosbustly as most drivers would've thanks to previous form.

On the race itself, the Perez incident annoyed me greatly. Ricciardo pulled off a similar move and didn't clatter other drivers. That's the difference in quality. Also, i think all this talk of Bottas being a future world champion is a bit pre mature at this stage. Him and Massa were very underwhelming once again.

It also looks like Jenson is on his way out. Seems in a touchy mood all weekend, possibly having been told his P45 is on it's way.

Honda need Button, he spent many years with them and they are comfortable with him, he is also popular in japan and has a Japanese girlfriend. he was also supportive during the Nuclear disaster and therefore is loved by all. The first year of the Honda engine will need an experienced driver at helping to develop the car.
Honda would love to work with Jenson again

I think the reason the race might have appeared boring for some was probably because the battle for the lead and remaing podium places didn't really ignite like some expected it. The guys are Williams must be scratching their heads at how they threw a podium away once again. It's not like Ricciardo had a great start.

Williams really need to do something about their team wall and strategy calls. Sir Frank was ofcourse missing and doesnt play as big a part as he did in the glory years, Pat Simmons doesnt seem to have the clout for that aspect, since Smedley arrived they may have stopped making so many glaring errors, but yesterday shows how lacking they still are in this area. reminds me a little of the previous McLaren era, maybe too many chefs going by the handbook, and no leader with common sense, but its the difference between RBRs sharpness and Williams lethargy that shows what a complete and slick package RBR are fundamentally.
