Only <EDITED WB> would assume the team are lying all the time now,
so "Valencia will be about taking the best set-up from both sides, and running a much more converged set-up on both drivers in the direction we believe to be better."

becomes

"Valencia will be about taking the best set-up from Lewis' side, and running a much more converged set-up from Jenson drivers in the direction we Lewis is taking."

You have to wonder though, with McLarens sharing of data and MWs continuing belief that Button is the tyre master and has 'build a team' around himself and that 'Lewis needs to learn from him' how soon before we end up with both cars compromised by the need for 'special needs' Button to have a perfectly balanced car that doesn not require aggresive handling

Do we see the hold up in introducing new updates (Lewis confirmed nothing till Silverstone) a return to the mediocrity induced by trying to equalise (converge) the fast and the timid?

Yeah I was a bit worried when they highlighted all the top teams upgrades before the first practise session and there were non for Mclaren. Are they saving them for a big push at Silverstone (they ususly bring upgrades to Silverstone)? or are they compromising themselves by trying to get jenson sorted out before confusing his issues with upgrades?

If they had upgrades to bring, they'd be on the car to at least test them out on track, definitely.

If you want to look at it like that then so be it or you could look at it that if they sort Buttons problems out they will have 2 cars getting good points and not one car getting very good points. It is a team sport after all, Mclaren are only after the maximum amount of points that they can get. I am sure they don't car which driver gets them for them.

What if they continue how things are at the moment with Lewis scoring all the points, what if he crashes out of the race. oh well no points for Mclaren.

Well. Surprise, surprise both Mclarens mediocre at best. Lets hope there's something in the bag for tomorrow or they may rue not bringing any upgrades, spending too long on Jenson's problems and messing with set ups. Lewis hardly seemed to do any running. lets just hope he's confident to do well without running

Yup,i noticed the same thing,Lewis didn't look to happy either. It will be Mclarens loss in the end, only when they continue to win nothing will they realize it's not working.

McLaren should be happy now, both drivers close together on the time sheets looking mediocre together. :hehe:

Do I have to mention this (to McLaren fans only seemingly) at every event that free practice 1 and 2 aren't indicative of race or qualifying pace? We spent all last season saying, Vettel doesn't look good on Friday, maybe the Redbulls have fallen back and been caught, I don't want to go through that again.

McLaren showed up to Valencia empty handed as far as upgrades are concerned, unlike many of their competitors. Given their performance there historically I wouldn't have high hopes in the first place. It's the longest circuit of the year, it will require the heaviest fuel load and the most punishment of the brakes.

Not surprising to see them struggle there really. Perhaps the strategy is to walk away with both drivers well in the points and focus on a circuit that they'll be strong on next.

Trust me, if I was genuinely dissapointed I wouldn't be saying that tongue in cheek.

Fully aware it's 'just a friday'. I do hope McLaren have some serious developments handy for Silverstone though, and I'm sure they will..since Martin bleats on forever about how it's all about a development race. Where's the developments Martin my man!? :hehe:
