The fans who reckon they're not watching at all need to call into question their passion in the first place.

Not really, I watch F1 to see the championship as much as the individual races and the technology. If I can only have half of that, then it's not worth it, just like paying £500+/year isn't worth it to see the other half. The cost of a Sky subscription plus TV licence would likely pay for tickets to every round of the BTCC with all its support races. I'm very passionate about Formula One, but unlike Bernie, the teams and the big wigs at Sky and the BBC, I'm not rolling in money.

Of course we all watch F1 for the championship. How can a dedicated F1 say they are now not going to watch? We have to be thankful that the BBC haven't lost ALL the coverage, because I for one would be knackered.

Quite easily. You're going to miss half the action and a lot of crucial racing. A race crammed into a 60 minute program with introduction and ending (so about 45 minutes of racing) just does not cut it at all. There is word that the BBC may show unedited racing only they will be delayed by a few hours so it'll be just like watching the Australian or Japanese GP. This is still to be decided. Hopefully common sence will prevail but this is the BBC so I sincerely doubt that it will.

Well go and miss it all then. I'm certainly not.

I'm not so easily defeated. Unfortunately, it appears some folk are. I say this, but the vast majority of those saying they'll boycott will without a doubt be watching what they can anyway. Idle moaning forms itself into nothing, at the end of the day.

I'm not being defeated. Defeat would mean me caving and purchasing a Sky subscription with sports package. I'm standing my ground on this one and if anyone thinks they're going to profit whilst treating me like crap, then they're mistaken. Goes for the BBC, Bernie, the teams, the sponsors and, of course, British Sky Broadcasting and the Murdochs.

If they come back with something reasonable, maybe I'll listen. Until then, I've got far better things to spend what little disposable income I have on.

I'm not buying all that either. But that's not stopping me from watching my favourite sport is it?

But both the BBC and Ecclestone prefer the highlights option.

No, but you're going to be watching a cut-down form of it for half the season, possibly (probably? Sky's cricket coverage is pants in comparison to Channel 4's) with lower quality production. I've spent years frustrated by ticket prices, even at their cheapest, and the costs of merchandise. Now I'm also being given ridiculous terms for watching and enjoying the sport, in full, at home. Enough is enough.

This decision isn't down to MrE, it is soley that of the BBC as they will have the final say on what they air. No surprise though that the BBC favours lower quality programming. Even more evidence that the TV Licence is a total waste of £145, especially when I don't have £145 to waste! I'm still in 2 minds about what I'll do about wathing.

LewEngBridewell - Think of it this way. If you're watching you favourite soap opera (God forbid you have such bad taste!) and the broadcaster decides to only show every 2nd program in full with edited highlights for the ones they don't show. You're going to loose track pretty quickly aren't you?

My point was that Bernie fully endorses such a move, claiming that not only will the prime-time slot be better for everyone (despite viewing figures for the early-morning fly-away races being hugely impressive the past two years) but highlights will actually make more people watch, rather than showing a full race. So of course the BBC will just use that to reinforce their stance.

Soap operas are awful. But if were to watch highlights of an episode, I wouldn't loose track. Unless I was incredibly slow, which I'm not.

Ok a soap opera is a bad example. They are usually very slow paced, probably helps most of the halfwits that watch them.

I may watch, I may not. Watching the BBC at the moment annoys me.

You will watch, because you wouldn't be able to face not doing so. So stop moaning, immediately. :grandad:
