Mclaren own the drivers trophies, own their suit real state.... but they cant decide over what's best for the team??

Button should have been helping Lewis a while ago. The fact they morally/conceptually can't... is a handicap.

Treating the drivers "equal" goes way beyond letting them race and bromance stories.

Yep. Thats part of the reason Lewis walked.

Merc have said that the drivers are equal as well. So what everyone is saying is that Lewis left Mclaren because they where being fair and not favoring one driver?

A little bit of humor on this thread. But just to illustrate the business aspect of the sport. For anyone that's not an F1 fan, in the US Lewis Hamilton is the only F1 driver they'd be likely to recognize outside of Schumacher. This ad I see just about every time I watch ESPN or SPEED.

Same thing Jab. Mclaren were favouring Button which may have been part of the reason Lewis walked...since parity and a hand in the more technical stuff were the only requests he made to Brawn.

What I find unbelievable is why McLaren would not favour their fastest driver. Totally incredible and one of the reasons why I questioned whether McLaren want to win any more championships.

Can someone explain why a team would favour the slower of their two drivers??

I'll give you a reason.. maybe they've known for a while that negotiations with Lewis weren't going well and he would likely walk? Not that this is the case but it would answer your question. I hate making suppositions though.

Another possibility is sheer incompetence, like a TP blinded by manlove unable to rationally quantify the relative values of both drivers.

How do you substantiate the claim that the team favours Jenson? I'm not disputing it, I just can't tell from here who they favour if they favour anyone. I would think one needs to be n the team to evaluate that.

The team favours Jenson Button imo, when they should be making Lewis (i.e the faster of the two on average) their priority, if they want to win a drivers championship.

Utterly incredible that a team like McLaren would back the slower driver.

I've never seen anything like it and neither has Lewis. That's why he's leaving.
