Kudos to Rosberg. He once again uses markedly more fuel than his team mate. I'm starting to think he sets the car up for one lap pace which hurts his race pace comparatively. Without the spin, race would've almost certainly been Lewis's. Closing a 7second gap to under 2secs was quite telling.

Sometimes I really wonder about these ex-F1 drivers....

That is the biggest load of tosh I have heard about the final race. It sounds like it was written by someone on here.

The only thing you need to look at to get the gist is where Einstein says its easier to chase than to lead, yes in a straight race maybe, where the guy in front cant make a mistake to allow the chaser a chance, but to start second and chase to win seems to have confused Mcnish who has made some of the biggest howlers and brain farts on the media watch this year

It is good to have real inside F1 insight from a race hardened, experienced driver to help us better understand the difficult challenges facing the drivers in Abu Dhabi.

It just shows how hard it will be for the eventual winner to actually get it done. Routine 1-2 finishes are not routine at all even when you are driving a 2 sec a lap faster super engined car. So many thing can go wrong and McNish also pointed out what I had suspected and posted about earlier that Hamilton faces a particular challenge on how he approaches the race. He is obviously so astute!

Alan McNish: "Hamilton could easily find himself in that situation. So he has to go there with the attitude to win, but be ready to shadow Rosberg if he has to. His problem is that if you play the percentage game too much it often bites you back. All it takes is a puncture and it could be game over.

Hamilton being who he is, if he is behind Rosberg and feels he is faster, he will try to overtake. He won't be able to help himself, because there is no better way to win a championship than by winning the race that decides it."

Does he go for pole and try to race from the front to the win or does he play the percentages and just try to follow his adversary. My opinion is that he needs to push for the win and forget about a 'safe' run to second. If he has adversity during the race then he can always fall back on his backup plan and stick to Rosberg's rear wing.

ps. Also so much is said about the scoring system including the double point race being a disadvantage to Hamilton when actually it is his advantage when compared to the scoring system the last two times he started the last race while in the lead of the championship in 2007 and 2008. Under the previous scoring system Hamilton would only have a 1 point lead right now,136 - 135, and would have to actually beat Rosberg to take the wdc! This race is luxury in comparison.

Check out this table. Note that Brazil results haven't been entered yet.

Allan McNish huh.... yeah because he's real familiar with the pressures of competing at the front end.

I really want to know who the prats are that stick a mic under the noses of some of these ex drivers and non-personalities to get their insight. I mean, really! Who gives a toss what someone like Allan McNish would have to say? And what would make a news/sports journalist go "Wait, lets hunt down McNish and get a few sound bytes from him. That's bound to sell some more papers!"
