All red Bull prove is that being in the A category doesn't guarantee A results. Besides it's clear RBR are not an exclusive works team.
As far as physically being under 1 roof as opposed to conceptually and effectively under 1 roof, the Merc engine and chassis roofs are a few miles apart and the Ferrati roofs are meters apart but still in seperate buildings/spaces

Ferrari is the only "under one roof" team.

As long as F1 cars have wings and aren't looking like trucks. Aero will always be crucial.

I never said aero isn't crucial could you read my post properly.

And I hope you first line is a joke. If you did not get what I meant let someone else explain to to you.

EDIT; I see Cookin already did. :hehe:

So basically we have two teams in F1 with the rest just pretenders? Please get over yourselves guys...

Nope, we have 2 (debatably 3) teams belonging to a certain category - Manufacturers and suppliers of engines who also enter works teams.
The rest are a different category - customers who take delivery of third party power units and slot them in

I think those distinctions are fairly obvious to all. Can we call one A and the other B? A would indicate an advantage, an inherent higher grading due to the nature of the regs

No 2 categories are the same as far as 'better'

So which group are A and which are B?

aint rocket science

And how long do you suggest this higher grading will last with the new regs? permanently? I do not see it long term, as with any engine formula change the teams, afar a while will get the knowledge required on their engines and it will become a level playing field.
After all they will be homologated and the engine manufactures will not be able to alter their PU's be it for their own team or a customer.
Where then the differentiating factor will be chassis/aero.

We are talking about this year. This year Lewis planned ahead to end up in a A caregory team as opposed to a B category team.

Next year McLaren will be an A cat team, for at least 1 year. And yes with homologation, chances are the power unit manufacturer advantage will diminish as the teams get to grips with the engines and chassis becomes the differentiator again.

This year, as RC said Lewis placed himself in an A cat team. Even though there is homologation, its not a freeze like with the V8s yet, and so at the start of each season till the freeze the A cat teams will still have an advantage when it comes to designing and installing upgrades to suit their own chassis teams first

Just to get some sort of comparitive, is this how the Brawn was talked about after testing in '09?

With the Brawn, the fact that 2 drivers who had never amounted to sh1t, were posting times a couple of secs quicker than the field and their car was the only one with a 'starter' hole in the floor supplying the extra downforce their TP had said was possible if the regs about not having holes in the floor were exploited making a double diffusser effect

All the talk was about the so called double diffusser getting thrown out by the stewards at the first race. Every team was convinced that such a glaring advantage (similar to the fan car) would be outlawed at the first race that they didnt bother.

So similar as in 2 sec gap, but dissimilar as in, there was ONE obvious explanation that was so outlandish everyone expected it to be outlawed.

The team are the ones competing, so their humility is well placed. The fans on the other hand are mere consumers of the entertainment aspect and are therefore not bound by any meaningful on track contribution, beyond being fans. And we all know that the term fan is derived from fanatic :hehe:

Anyway as always with fans as with any movement or school of thought there are different factions and some are reasonable and cautious, some are more optimistic or eager, and ofcourse there will be the last ditch stand militant and fervent believers ( and probably some out and out psychos as well, but thankfully we dont know any of those, do we :yikes: )
