Let's face it, like Vettel today his heart just wasn't in it. I got a sense that Button's heart just wasn't in it either, an Kimi's heart wasn't in it, a lot of hearts not in it today apparently.

Oh, one good thing about today's results... I no longer have to put up with Leigh Diffey, David Hobbs and Steve Matchett pretend that Ricciardo somehow still had a chance at the championship. :hehe:

Thankfully the rednecks had a Nascar meet that same weekend or we might have seen cans of Budweiser been thrown in deesgust :hehe:

First of all as a U S American, I'm insulted by that.

(completely off topic here) Q. I had a brain fart watching today, but do they play the national anthem before the race in other GPs? The American anthem was very prominently featured in today's pre-race coverage and I don't remember that same portion of the coverage in other GPs or even ones I've seen live.

Secondly there would be very few red blooded, red necked "Mericans going to see a race where they had to fork out 500 dollars for a weekend grandstand. I mean we can laugh all we want at NASCAR but the tickets are like 25 dollars a piece and the entire venues are one huge grandstand.

Thirdly with beer prices at 12 dollars a glass, I bet no one would be throwing a drop of that away. Please have some respect for the Yanks and their customs.

Yes, you are right, I didnt think it through properly

i mean, hows Billy Bob gonna be able to buy an F1 general admittance ticket and pay for his sisters 'morning after' pill :hehe:

The 'Mericans have stereotypes of Brits too. :hehe: Anyway, let's leave this discussion be as nationalism etc etc is a forum guideline I suggest no one skirt around, no matter how gingerly.

Some post race comments from Nico. I"m glad he was able to figure it out.
ESPNF1 Nico Rosberg said an incorrect setting meant he did not get the Energy Recovery System (ERS) boost he was expecting while fighting Lewis Hamilton for the lead at the US Grand Prix.

Rosberg led for the first 23 laps of the race but was passed on lap 24 at Turn 12 as Hamilton lunged up the inside and made the move stick. Hamilton went on to take the victory, meaning Rosberg is now 24 points down in the championship with 75 points still up for grabs.

Although Rosberg did not realise it at the time, he had set his ERS boost for a delayed response rather than an instant boost as Hamilton came past.

"When I saw him coming I decided to go for extra boost, but I never got it," Rosberg said. "I just found a new thing that I made a mistake because I used the wrong thing to get me more ERS. I thought I was using the right thing but there was a delay in that one. If I did it with a button it would be immediate, but with a switch there is a delay, so I never got the extra ERS. So I had a big derate, which is why in the last metres he got a good jump on me. So, that was a mistake that I didn't know about.

"I went for extra boost but the way I did it, it only comes on with a delay so I didn't get extra boost at that particular moment."

Rosberg admitted he could have done a better job defending the corner too.

"I am sure I could have done better, but it is a judgement thing. If I defend a lot he will brake late on the outside and get me on the next one, so I thought indicating I am closing the door would have been enough to stop him from trying, but it wasn't. Because I was part way over already and I thought that was enough for him to think he should not try, but it wasn't."

Someone else did that, Gutierrez maybe, just stuck it in no mans land and got mugged. A lot of those Austin corners needed a definite line to be defended where there was more than one way to take it, hoping the advantage wasn't on the other extreme. It was Alonso who lost out so much which is usually his forte, that late excessive turn in he favours, which I thought would have suited this track.

That last sentence from Rosberg sums up how hard it is to defend Hamilton.
