5 races and the season is over? This is F1 anything can happen, and it usually does.

If your willing to put " FRAFPDD" has a 12 inch chicken as your signature when its inevitably proved otherwise then your on. Or are you chicken?

Another great race!!This new seasons regs and tyres are brilliant!! Barcelona is normally such a processional race, they used to start, pit once and that was it, but not this year!!

Excellent drives from both Vettel and Hamilton, but as A Jenson fan I thought he had an excellent race after such an abysmal start.

Massively looking forward to Monaco!!!

Bingo to Smokin.

Im sure as the sky is blue that the only reason Hamilton had a chance was because of Alonso.

Theres just one single flaw, for half the grand prix Alonso wasnt in the lead, Vettel was, and Hamilton still caught him. When Vettels KERS was actually working though, they posted the same times. Dunno how to explain that one..... but im not going to get all giddy like i did today when i thought it was "certain" hamilton was going to catch and pass vettel, and pretend mclaren are as fast as red bull.

Im afraid even the fight for second place is done with mclaren now.

I think im just going to watch Kobayashi all year. Vettel has won this years title already.

I think Hamilton's tyres were in better condition when he was catching Vettel because of McLaren's strategy. Alonso preventing the Bulls from leading and just responding to the trailing cars' moves meant that Vettel's team had to come up with a strategy of their own to stay ahead. I think Vettel ran 15 or 16 laps on his third set of options to cover Lewis - and it was a close thing.

I can say yes to both - it's called covering your butt :hehe:
No seriously though: it LOOKS like it's going to be a cake walk for RB this year. But there's always something that could happen, and I'm thinking the FIA. They will ban the blown diffuser - might affect RB more than others, in particular during quali where they use DRS in areas nobody else dares to BECAUSE they have great down force, so that advantage might be gone not too long from now.

It's the word censor: your word is in the library, mine isn't :P

that's not a problem it can be painted over.

So much of this season left to play out, 14 or 13 more races is a long time. Look at Fernando's run last year.

Its unfair thats what it is, i should be able to say man sausage and whatever i like.

Are we that sure its the diffuder that gives them that much of anadvantage , im pretty sure their car is just..that good overall.

5th year of watching f1 and over half have had 1 car floor-mopping 2009-2011, two more years and ill know what schumis years were like. But i really dont wanna f***ing know!!!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMETHING HAPPEN THAT WILL STOP THIS TOMFOOLERY!!!

Not saying that. What I'm saying is that the blown diffuser puts the RB that much over the edge down force wise that they can use the DRS in places in quali 'where no man has gone before'. That advantage might go away and thus their dominance in quali as well.

Apparently theres a rumour floating round about Kobayashi being kept a VERY close eye on for a red bull seat, look at this;

From F1.com

Q: What do you think of the idea of having Kamui Kobayashi as a team mate for next season?
SV: I did race with him in Formula Three, and we have been team mates back then. Sometimes we looked at him and we could not figure out how he managed to take some corners that fast. Luckily he also had corners where he was slower, so we were always matching each other. Still, this is so far away, as we are only at race number five. On top of that is that I am not signing any drivers. I like Kamui a lot, and that could be a good basis.

If anyone reads the whole interview, this question came out of absolutely nowhere, must be more then just fun-talk surely, if only considering as an option.

Not only that, Kamui wasted a set of options in quali yesterday without setting a time, started 14th, got a puncture today on lap 2, had to do an extra long stint on the hard tyres, finished 10th, in the points.

He really is a star.

Man, I actually feel bad for Alonso. What a start! When you get a McLaren fan rooting for a Ferrari, you know there's something right going on. :hehe: Unfortunately he was let down by his car. Sad.

The Ferrari just isn't fast enough at the moment. But, if Alonso isn't fast enough to win or get on the podium, at least Alonso put on a good show for the fans.

I know what you mean but being lapped is not a good show. I imagine that there were quite a few disappointed fans leaving Barcelona. On today's evidence Ferrari are heading backwards towards the midfield but I think this was just a blip. The Ferrari's did not cope well with the primes, and they need to sort that out pronto, but they've been near the front at other venues.

Monaco will be a different story.

i dont think that ferrari are that bad, or webber or jenson, but vettel and hamilton from the second stint onwards were just absoulutely on fire...

And that with SV's KERS misfiring most of the time...
Once the KERS is sorted for good, there's no way the McLarens will be as close anymore.

You're probably right DD. Basically I could nearly win this years WDC in the RB7 :-)

Which makes Nando's start and first 2 stints all the more brilliant and Lewis's race just as astounding.

Au contraire: FA's start was massively helped by KERS, so nothing special compared to SV.
And LH's race in the last 10 laps was hugely helped by the DRS, which was not available to SV, so together with not having KERS on SV's car, it's actually pretty pathetic that LH could not pass SV and makes SV's performance even more remarkable.

No Im with Spanky on this one. Much as Alonso isnt my favourite, his start was amazing. he went past 3 cars and two of them did have KERS . Vettel only passed one.

And at the end Lewis wasnt 'hugely' helped by DRS. DRS was of little help in this race as the commentators kept asying long before the final stint of the race. To call Leiws drive 'pretty pathetic' is...well words` fail me. especially when yo look at the downforcde the RB has in fast coners.

DRS helped a lot when you compare the rate of passing today and in previous years on this track.
I didn't mean LH's drive was pathetic - he was doing fine. What was pathetic is that McLaren with all their upgrades couldn't come up with a car that was at least capable to pass Red Bull with DRS and KERS (when RB didn't have either available). LH drove the heck out of that car - unfortunately for him, SV was on his best game as well.

The RB7 is said to have 30 points of downforce to the 26 and the MAC DRS is set up for more downforce and less drag so it's not all that helpful in passing.

Thankfully it's in German, teams will continue to try and catch them.

I don't know how anyone can watch such a close race as that and then say that the season is over...

Complete load of :bs:

Hence:
I'm curious whether we'll be drawing parallels to JB in 2009 or MS in early 2000s. Time will tell I reckon
