I posted one in the Williams thread, the Mercedes thread, the McLaren thread, the Force India thread, the Red Bull thread... what's wrong with posting a link to horrifically poor pundit predictions of Kimi giving Alonso a good fight? Simply for the sake of coexistence I would apologize profusely, if I knew what for.

Will have to remember to respond in kind, when the shoe is on the other foot!

If I recall the story accurately the shoe only fit Cinderella and not her step sisters. However I will await the 2017 or 2018 season patiently.

If Ferrari had 2 Kimis this year they would be 6th in the WCC behind Force India, and with only 9 effective teams on the grid with the sad departure of Caterham and Marrusia, this would be 3rd from last on the grid despite having the biggest budget and the longest history and being one of only 2 manufacturers on the grid
Desperate times for F1 indeed

Pretty much every prediction made about the other teams did not pan out
and predictions about Mercedes were conservative.
We know. It's not a state secret. Rubbing it in isn't necessary. We know.

And, I'm sure you know that particular idiom has nothing to do with a fairy tale!

Massa being very complimentary of his former teammate. If true, then Kimi is sure to have an easier time of it next year.

ESPNF1 Felipe Massa believes Kimi Raikkonen's struggles at Ferrari this year are more down to the psychological impact of team-mate Fernando Alonso rather than any issue with his car.

Raikkonen replaced Massa at Ferrari alongside Alonso in what was a highly-anticipated driver line-up going into the current season but the Finn has struggled on his return to the Italian outfit, where he won the drivers' championship in 2007. While Alonso has amassed 141 points and sits sixth in the drivers' championship, Raikkonen has recorded just 47.

Massa drove alongside Alonso, widely considered to be the most complete driver of the current grid, at Ferrari between 2010 and 2013 and believes the presence of the Spaniard has been a big reason for Raikkonen's difficult return season.

"It is not easy to be [Alonso's] team-mate, and for sure the problem Kimi is having [him] is in his head," Massa said. "It's very difficult [to be his team-mate], because first of all he [Alonso] is an amazing driver; his talent is really complete. He's one of the quickest drivers, but also one of the most consistent drivers, one of the more aggressive - he has everything. He is a top driver."

Uh... is that the same Massa who was upset that he wasn't being treated as Alonso's equal?
The same Massa who looked for excuses / rationalizations / justifications as to why he wasn't scoring the same points as Alonso?
The same Massa who believed there was a conspiracy going on at Ferrari?

That Massa? :scratchchin:

I guess "misery" really does love company!!

The Massa that not long ago stood on the podium in Monza and was cheered warmly by the Tifosi, yes that one.

Apparently Alonso had been courting Mercedes all summer and it's this that so angered M&M man.

( this was in an article in Autosport about Jenson Button. It was a very poor article in my opinion and I was annoyed I'd bought the magazine to read it. It was by Ben Anderson, but the bit about Alonso was interesting, though not surprising)

According to the media reports, the reason Alonso is looking so confident despite not having a seat for next year is that he didnt actually leave Ferrari yet, whereas the clever HR department at Ferrari have signed Seb. Therefore unless Alonso gets the deal he wants at Honda and resigns and leaves Ferrari....

then ferrari are gonna have to pay him off 30 mill for the last 2 years on his contract, or pay Kimi off a similar amount and keep an Alonso who they dont want and who doesnt want to be there. Would they save face by paying Kimi off for the second time? or do they pay Alonso off, and let him go into rally(lol) or WEC or samurai philosophy school until he gets the deal he wants?

Or do they break their own record by paying Seb off before he even starts

gotta say Ferrari are certainly consistent

Yeah, you would be confused, wouldn't you? I'll type this slowly, just for you, ok?

First of all, Ferrari was more than loyal in keeping Massa on for years after his horrific accident.
Probably for a lot longer than most other teams would have done. Secondly, a lot of Ferrari fans
are still fans of Massa, even if he isn't wearing red coveralls. We heard those fans at Monza.
Nothing wrong with that.

What it would seem Massa is doing in complimenting Alonso is bigging himself up. Instead of
accepting that he just didn't live up to the promise of his early days, he has decided to take a
swipe at Kimi, as if to confirm that it wasn't that he that wasn't a strong enough teammate at
Ferrari, it's just that Alonso is that great that no one can keep up.

Finally, does he owe Ferrari anything? Maybe not in some people's minds. Personally, this
comment comes across as being self-serving.
