To be fair I was generalizing, we don't see what really goes on in the background

Maybe he walks into MW office and letting out a mega stinky fart and then leaves the office without a word.

This sort of assumption is simply insignificant/useless....so why is there a point to discuss?

Teams pay what they think the driver is worth, yes...well he's clearly one of the fastest if not the fastest, and widely heralded as a Top 3 driver in the paddock. If you doubt his development prowess, what about 2009 when he was the lead driver (Heikki was a new kid) and helped bring the car from backmarker status to a race winner? What more proof do you need that he is capable of pointing the team in the right direction with his feedback?

They where just examples, I was just trying to point out that a drivers worth to a team is more than just being fast.

Look at Jordan/Katie Price, she has never been the best looking model in the world, but you have to admit she has worked the system to make a lot of money. It is not all down to her looks.

So how do you explain Jenson's reported £12 million a year contract and the reported £10 million being proposed to Lewis? Why does Lewis get less than Jenson? Makes no sense to me unless Jenson is really getting £10 mil or less.

Reportedly,They're both on the same this year (15euros-which is I guess about £12mil) And lewis is being offered less. This is what I cant understand. Its not money but principal that would be pissing me off if I was lewis.

Seriously, if he's getting LESS or even equal to NoGrip he might as well just tell Whitmarsh to suck on it and leave the team.

I think he might be keeping silent till he finds himself out of WDC contention and then he'll be giving the team the finger by making the announcement and hopefully, the reason!

there's no way he's being offered less. who on earth reported that? i've not seen anything of the sort.

Its been reported that Mclaren upped their original offer to match Merecedes. The original offer was a paycut to 'reflect the economic times' the same economic times that saw Mclaren put Button on the same salary as hamilton.

Anyway Brawn has all but admitted now that he's after hamiltion
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102877

And here's an old news item that reported they wanted to cut Hamiltons salary to half of Buttons

And they wonder why Lewis doesnt always smile

fine but where's these reports he's being offered less than Button? i'd guarantee this is made up nonsence being passed around as rumour, like the rumour that all the fans at monza were chanting rascism towards hamilton even though nobody else since has reported hearing anything of the sort.

edit: the link you included mentions nothing about him being cut to half of button's salary, just being cut in half.

Theyre both on the same salary.

So halving hamiltons puts him on half of Buttons salary.

ok thanks i see where this theory (crazy as it is) comes from now.

it is all nonsence though, the reported salaries are far from conclusive and that wage cutting article is clearly a vague rumour. there's no proof of anything pro- Button money wise here

...and to be fair, there is no proof of anything to the contrary.
Yes they are all rumors, but then again just a couple of weeks ago it was "just" a rumor that Hamilton was talking to Mercedes.

The most awaited decision of this year's 'silly season' is due to be announced on Friday. Lewis Hamilton has been weighing up offers from current employers McLaren and rival squad Mercedes over the past few weeks, but the situation is now expected to reach its climax and allow the 2013 grid to fully take shape.

Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle believes there has been a flurry of activity behind the scenes over the past few days, with McLaren recently improving their offer in a bid to retain the 2008 title winner. Should Hamilton decide to join Mercedes, it could signal the end of seven-time Champion Michael Schumacher's career.

On Thursday morning, Mercedes Team Principal Ross Brawn remained hushed over the speculation. However, he did explain that any 'ambitious' team – which he claims Mercedes certainly is – would look to acquire a driver with the quality he possesses.

Dunno, but it doesn't state anything new, I think it's reasonable to conclude McLaren have negotiated with Lewis, Mercedes are interested and that Schumacher may retire, from what I have read - that is all Brawn has said.

Eddie Jordan said in the last 24 hours.

Ok, I'll drop the act, I'm excited at hearing that too
