The common thread of Hero vs Villain is again obvious in this thread.
It's the way of the world, that's why WWE has good guys and bad guys, most sports that appeal to the base of the brain stem work that way. For some it's not enough that you man does well, the true joy comes when you also destroy the villain.
I'm just sayin... but didn't you give a smirk of satisfaction in Hungary when Lewis broke down?
Whenever your favored driver finishes ahead of anybody, or their direct competition or your most disliked driver is good. But that is the normal result of competition.
The difference lies in how some constantly go out of their way to make X driver a villain. I dont remember any Schumacher fan making anybody out as a villain. For example, when Alonso won the wdcs against Schumacher... Schumacher fans simply weren't happy about it, but nobody made a villain out of Alonso. When Lewis beat Massa for the WDC, nobody made Lewis a villain... even diMontezemolo, the fans, Massa and so on... congratulated Lewis and went on ahead. Even in the case today with Nico Rosberg; there's lots of Schumacher fans, and nobody has said a peep about Nico. The same cannot be said about certain drivers/teams/fans, quite the contrary, he's still being satanised for doing this, doing that...
For example: Vettel is Red Bull's protege and is arrogant. I dont like him and he is the worst for these reasons. And yet, Hamilton being Mclaren's protege and being arrogant is no problem.
And the list goes on...
Came out fighting indeed.
