This from autosport.com:

"From the start things went wrong," Alonso told Spanish television. "On the formation lap my gearbox broke and I had no clutch during the race, so I had to brake in a weird way.

"I had to first gear down and then push the throttle hard so it would engage the gear for that corner.

"So it was probably the hardest race of my whole life in terms of driving, because I had to improvise for every corner. But even so we were going to get a few points, which in the end was not possible because of the engine.

Quite amazing he could keep up with FM and even challenge JB in this way. Sounds like he was almost double-shifting like in a truck

Expect some fire from this man later in the season - although right now I think the RB's are in a different league.

It was impressive, the car sounded utterly horrendous braking into every corner.

I'm hoping it's gonna be Alonso vs Hamilton for the title, those two are basically in a different league to everyone else in terms of driving ability even if some situations have played against them so far. I bet Vettel will be in there too by virtue of having the best car though.

Good entertainment today. The only disappointment was a lack of rain which seemed to be a given all week...

I wasn't disappointed by the lack of the rain. There was some good racing from Alguersuari and Petrov, and obviously watching the faster cars make their way in to the points was entertaining. Really liked seeing Sutil hold Hamilton off to score his first points of the season, also Massa taking the championship lead was sweeeet. One thing that did disappoint me was the pace of the Williams cars in the dry. It was good that Nico got himself a point, but really bad considering where both cars started.

Kubica's drive was quiet, but solid. He scored decent points again and is really bringing something to Renault. He and Petrov seem like a good pairing for this year. Also, the double-finish from Hispania is good to see. If they can manage to get their car reliable, then they can start working towards moving forwards. :)

Ah don't get me wrong, i still though the race was great but rain and the craziness it brings is always welcome. :P

Grizzly Bear?

I do feel a little Grizzly after todays race. My hat goes well and truly off to Hamilton, Fantastic race and a real show of what that boy is capable of. JB had a bad race and i neither say more. Massa? I don't understand that guy honestly? He makes my head spin from time to time but he is getting the job done? @ the beginning he seemed scared and hestitant which i can understand to be fair but then near the end he seems to come alive and boy did he come alive, he drove fantasticly and i think his place is well deserved in the chart. Ferrari? Hmmmm.....I am not sure what's going off there, Alonso's car was just a sick boy and i think everyone is due there ' :censored: ' car to be fair. RBR had there's, Macca will have theres. But Alonso drove superbly today and really showed talent and drive, i don't know what happened from going 2seconds faster than the pack to being pulled down then blow up? They really do have over heating problems and it needs to be sorted!! Vettel? I think he drove a clean race but it wasn't really won. It just fell really into his lap which i don't think is well deserved from taking advantage of 4 sick dogs...(McLaren & Ferrari) they made the right call but i don't see this a real show of who is the best....Were getting mixed messages so next round hot weather...All good cars and all good Qually. I want a real battle between the 5!!! Who are Alonso,Massa,Button,Hammy & Vettel!!! Com'On boys!!! Webber? I am not surprised and really don't think he desevred the win. Not impressed!!! Rosberg? Given the amount of times he is shun upon and the amount of times people over look him, i think he did a good job!! Well done! All in All a good race, solid results and has shook the pack up MORE!! I am appauled @ Ferrari this weekend and hope we can revitalize what seems to be 2 shocking races. 1 Due to weather which is uncotrollable but the other due to lack of judgment. So lets improve the car and get back on the pace!!! We need that winning form.

Best Comment:
Rob & Felipe, ohh this made me gigle!!!
"God boy, well done!"
I think they have a fantastic relationship and really are an amazing team. I find it special and one day hope this awesome combo can win the WDC!! It's not looking shy from Massa at the moment. But he has got to book up his ideas if he wants to be considered. Given his circumstances i can understand but still this is racing and he really needs to show his worth in Ferrari and worthy of the number 1 spot.

Could not agree more Scotty. I think the car just sounded so Arrrr :banghead: a blender really, it just was a horrid car. The way he drove wa ssuperb and i think the past 2 races have not been the best. Oz which he could of won, and this race was bad judgement from him. I hope next round they have improved. But Hammy & Alonso do seem the 2 contenders. Button is a little like Massa. Lucky to be fair, until Massa really shows speed. i am a little worried for him. He did in the closing stages against Lewis, which i feel he felt more comfortable with the car. But he needs that all the time. Vettel will be a lucky man....That's all i can say.

Again Jenson shows that without his gambling antics just what an average driver he really is,he was lucky Alonso didn't pass him in the end as well. Yes i know, some of his fans will say otherwise but i really think this is what you can expect when it's even stevens,he really has no pace or idea on how to stop someone overtaking him or overtaking others.

Yet again Lewis shows why he is the overtaking king in F1.

Four points between them now and 8 points between the leader and Lewis,it's getting hot.

Well done to Nico, every time he comes in front of suck ball it's another reason why he should of stayed retired.

I'm obvisouly I'm a big fan of Massa. So I am fairly bais, but who isn't these days. But despite Massa not looking like he's on best form, this is the best start to a season he's ever had by far. Leading after 3 races. Great decisive overtake on Button today had me screaming with joy.

Thing is, Massa usually isn't on form the first few races, and he has looked unsteady at times. China is usually a poor race for him as well. But when we get back to europe, hopefully we'll see a couple of race wins at places like Spain and Turkey. Enjoying this season. I'll admit it would take a lot for Massa to win this season. Alonso is so quick, and Vettel's pace looks onimous. McLaren are around as well. It's just such stiff competition.

I still don't get the hate on Vettel. Many people said before this weekend if Vettel started anywhere but pole, he'd either wander around, or blow the race completely. To be fair, he proved a lot of people wrong today. If anyone is favourite for the title, it has to be Vettel right now.

Also have to say brilliant race for Algy. He was deffinetly faster Buemi, and was able to pull of some pretty impressive overtaking maneuvers. Around the outside of turn 5 on Hulkenburg  Hugely impressed.

Congrats to Redbull. Absolutely amazing drive by Lewis to come from 20 - 6th place. One of the best drives of the day was from Alguersuari, some really gutsy overtakes. I pissed myself to see Schumacher doing his impression of "3 wheels on my wagon". But delighted for Nico, he was my choice at the end of last season to team up with Hammy
