I must say I'm glad they've finally added some team distinction in the on screen timings with colours.

Little annoyed they still haven't done anything to show sector colours like I suggest before they should use the three letters of the drivers name for each sector.

Based on first laps and early pace when they're just staying out the Williams and Mercedes look good.

The sky presenters did say though that they expect the engines to change sound during qualifying and the race.

Rosberg seemed easily able to make that quick run, while Vettel was on the edge of his fastest.

Hamilton still on a free practice 1 program though.

Yeah, also watch the on board videos the most stable looking car is the Williams, a lot of oversteer and sliding from the other cars

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of collision's during the opening laps on race day.

Yep, crucial to stick the cars on the front row then with a lot of unstable cars in close proximity.

Edit, Hamilton puts on a set of softs for the first time n BOOM! P1

I am mighty impressed with Redbull...almost 40 laps completed and less than a second away from Merc in pace! It's only practice, but they're already way way ahead of whatever they did during testing.

The McLaren is said to be stable at the rear, and the red bull has good corner entrance speed. The williams and McLaren has good cornering speed

Indeed they did do quite well but it still looks like Mercedes are still comfortably ahead they did their laps way earlier than everyone else.

The McLaren does look good too, the problem with the red bull whilst it's fast into the corner it's bad out of the corner, they'll eat tyres doing that.

Also, they are using more of the track generally, they are fighting the car, as they don't stick to the ground due to the down force, that's why I think the Mercedes nose will change if they start to fall back on down force.

Allan McNish:

BBC F1 analyst Allan McNish said: "The Mercedes is very quick, but the battle for second is close between McLaren, Williams, Red Bull and Ferrari.
"I think Ferrari will be there or thereabouts, too, but I am a little bit confused as to why Alonso appears to be able to get more out of the car than Kimi Raikkonen.

"The stand-out story, though, seems to be that Lotus are struggling. They over-performed last year but have not done much running and when the car is out [on track] it looks unstable."
