Don't know if anyone caught it but there was a suspicious bit of blue smoke from Alonso's car during Q1 as he was going through or more accurately, entering Eau Rouge.

Sorry Ferrari fans for my exuberance, but maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. Too long of a streak without a DNF and that's what it will take to make the season close again in the next few races.

I am very happy for the pace of McLaren ... I hope next race, the rear wing works well for both drivers, well done to the engineers and the people at the factory who didn't actually had any break at all... but hard work pays well.

I think the rule says EVERYTHING needs to be shut down for two weeks, so even the factory guys get time off.

This might have been missed, but to add insult to injury for Rosberg, he's got a gearbox change 5 place penalty...

edit - i see it was mentioned in the pool thread, nm...

It'll be interesting to see how he treats La Source. Dive down the inside and try and make up as many places as possible? Or... keep back and let the carnage unfold?

The usual i guess, try to make up places while simultaneously staying out of trouble. Depends what side of the grid he's actually on though, usually it's easier to stay out of harm's way on the outside here.

Yes, i noticed that. Perhaps an oil overfill, but Massa's engine failure casts some doubt especially given that they are probably both new engines and there could be a batch issue or something. But he completed qualifying with no further apparent problems, so it probably is just the former.

Most likely a harmless oil overfill.

I thought that was the case WB.

No wine for a WEEK! Goddamn. It has to rain!! C'mon this is Spa, as unpredictable as Silverstone.

Actually I dont get it...why does Lewis think Button will win easy tmr? He will have a tiny advantage in the DRS sector, thats about it...whereas in qualifying he had the advantage nearly everywhere he chose.

I hope you're right, gives Raikkonen a better chance...

The performance gap is pretty damn huge. Compounded by a heavy fuel load, and the fact that there are serious challenges from other teams. I can't believe I'm betting against Hamilton in the Pool, but a McLaren 1-2 would be just fine for me even if Lewis isn't the 1 in the 1-2.

Raikkonen showed today how much a driver matters in Spa. Will Lotus find some new way to muck things up for the win or will they use one of their tried and true ways to muck things up for the win?

Could Red Bull have overtaken Ferrari in the ruthlessness department? It's amazing to see how much discord has been introduced into the team when they don't have a head and shoulders superior car.

Q: Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has recently spoken about qualifying being a weakness for you. How do you feel about that?
SV: Well, I think everybody has the right to express his feelings and it was nothing new to me as Helmut spoke to me before he went public. I also know that I have to get better in that respect. And I know that I can. Having said that I was quite satisfied with my lap this afternoon. Unfortunately it was not fast enough.
