Sagi58, I have pointed out a few facts;

Lewis joined Merc
Merc said they wanted more sales and wider and younger market appeal by signing Lewis
Merc post record sales

I then pondered Lewis factor as positive

Since then all I've heard is how all car makers are selling more, how luxury cars are this, how the US market is that, how BMW is still the top seller

This is the common knee jerk reaction from some quarters to anything positive about Lewis - 'yes but'

It would be more fun if the yes butters could at least put up a suitable alternative hypothesis instead of the usual snipe and run stuff :whip:

It would also be nice if the "Lewis-lovers" could take off their rose-tinted glasses and realize that the (F1) world does not revolve around him and all he says and does.
Just my opinion, with which you obviously will not agree!!

((p.s. that doesn't include you, RC!! You at least are very open about your "fanship"!!
For that, I admire and respect each of your posts!!))

Ah now we are getting there, so your issue is that Lewis fan mentions Merc sales and asks if Lewis is responsible, on a public forum, and you feel this means Lewis fan have rise tinted glasses and think the world revolves around him and therefore your instinct is to bring some negativity to bear
So when unable to argue or disprove theories about others favourite drivers the solution is to argue ad hominem?
And it's ok to be open about fanship, so to make you feel better by being able to say 'oh that's just irrational fan support, that's why I cannot disprove the argument'

Don't point out the good things unless we agree otherwise we will burn down your books, sounds good, can we vote tifosi?

Since you're the driver, you are obviously going to get to the destination you already have in mind, eh!! :P

->NO, I don't have a problem with you asking the question is Hamilton ""responsible"" for the increase in sales!
My "instincts" do not enter into my suggesting that you made a very simplistic connection between the two.
Marketing 101 is about the varying factors involved in any sort of increase/decrease in sales, expenses, etc.
But, when presenting your "theory" about Hamilton being the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg at Mercedes,
you chose to ignore any of those other mitigating factors.
That's ok. Image I forgive you! :D

->Being open about whom your support/favour allows for a different schema where comments have a context.

->By the way, please don't read anything into what I post, I say what I mean and I mean what I say!! Thanks!!

Hamilton did mightily contribute to bringing Mercedes from 5th last year to 2nd this year... ahead of Ferrari.

Sagi58, are you suggesting that Lewis has not had any effect on Mercs record sales in 2013?
If so can you prove it?
If you think that he has contributed in some way can you please say so
Otherwise it's unclear exactly what your response/objection was to my supposition

At least the Lewis-lovers still wear glasses, the Tifosi are just blind.

You really do the world in black and white, don't you?
Either that, or you're spoiling for a fight, which you would do well to look for elsewhere.

What I said was that it is too simplistic to credit Hamilton with the increase in sales in the
luxury car market. Just as it would be too simplistic to claim that Vodafone was successful
in completing the following transaction, only after he left McLaren:
