I think Ferrari might take the opportunity to move Smedley along as well. Hope they promote or bring in some "new" blood. Then again, can you imagine your first ever race engineer job having to cope with Kimi - now that would be a real test :hehe:

Wasn't Andrea Kimi's engineer previously?

Not sure if I've already posted this, elsewhere:

Rob Smedley talks future plans and charity dinners on BBC Tees

...New challenges
Next, the conversation turned to a subject that Rob was expecting - what would happen if Felipe left the team. Would Rob follow Massa to whichever team he chose next, and where might that be?

I’m contracted to Ferrari, not Felipe. We have a good working relationship and I enjoy working with him, he’s a good lad. I think it’s a very easy working relationship, that’s why it’s lasted so long. But Felipe’s his own man, and I’m my own man. I’m contracted to Ferrari until the end of 2012.

From what they tell me, they’ve got plans for me, whether they’re good and bad. To be honest, I’m coming to the end of my career as a race engineer. I don’t want to be the oldest race engineer in the pitlane. I’m not at the minute. I think it’s probably gonna be time, towards the end of next year or this year, that I start doing something else.

You need new challenges and you need to have a different outlook on things, different responsibilities and whatnot. I think Ferrari are quite happy for me to do something like that... I wouldn’t follow him to a team, I think I’m coming to the natural end of that part of my career, and it’s time to move onwards and upwards...

James Allen seems to think Smedley is Williams bound as well.

And Kimi's race engineer Mark Slade to Ferrari

So, no more "baby" talk and only serious "leave me alone" stuff? :D

Are you referring to the way Smed needs to talk to :( Massa to get him to stay on track?

Good interview, very interesting comments Felipe has in comparing Kimi, Schumi and Nando as to who is the best/most complete driver

I'm not sure that this interview was fair on Massa. I mean, how do you compare/rate different drivers with different personalities and say one was better than another? You can't do that any more than a sibling can compare 3 different brothers/sisters with different personalities and say one was better than another.

More interesting to ask is, who is the measuring stick in this comparison? Massa himself? And, do we really expect him to "dis" his current teammate/team? Especially when he is now looking for a drive? Do we really expect him to "big up" the driver who is going to replace him? Or to "big up" a retired WDC that came back with a different team? Really?

Nope... As far as I'm concerned, this interview was little more than political mumbo-jumbo to be used/abused depending upon your own perspective.

Massa just doesnt get it. Now he is complaining that crashgate was responsible for 'snatching' the 2008 WDC from him. I remember after his head accident he was trying to get the result changed and somehow retrieve the points from the Singapore race. Claiming he was cheated out of a title

And he reckons Lewis 'snatched' the title from him because for 30 seconds or so he thought he had won the title.

And now he wants to be number 1 driver himself somewhere else or leave F1. Guess its bye bye Philip baby, try to remain cool.

How did Lewis snatch the title from him when coming into the last race lewis was ahead on points and only had to finish 5th if Massa won (which he did)? And wouldnt the points situation have changed for all the drivers if Alonso's Singapore win had been removed after the race, so its irrelevant that he lost the title by points 'taken away' illegally by his recent teammate Alonso's team Renault

Anyway he has the story to bore everyone with in nascar or wherever he ends up 'I was WDC for 30 seconds and I should have been given it afterwards anyway because Briatorie/Alonso/piquet?Renault broke the rules, get me another tequilla will you'

ATTENTION RACE FANS

Self proclaimed #1 driver at Ferrari Felipe Massa :banghead: was just teasing his fans when he said he was going to drive "B^LLS TO THE WALL" after getting fired several weeks back. He was just kidding :D

With his chances of landing a ride dropping every day  he has made a new declaration of "I WILL DRIVE B^LLS TO THE WALL"

Massa promises 'aggressive' approach
ESPN Staff

Felipe Massa has only finished on the podium:clap: once so far this season © Associated Press

Felipe Massa promises to "take an aggressive approach" between now and the end of his Ferrari career.

With Kimi Raikkonen joining Fernando Alonso at Ferrari in 2014, Massa only has five races left with the team. With his future uncertain, Massa said he would be taking risks to try and secure strong results and hopes to get the chance to add to his tally of 11 victories for Ferrari.

"I will take an aggressive approach." Massa said. "I did that in the last race, but unfortunately it didn't pay off as I spun. But you need to take risks and I will keep trying.

"It's a dream :cloud9: [to win before the end of the season] but anything is possible. Anything is possible in this job: how many times have we seen a guy win a race without being in the best car. You never give up hope and I will try to get one more victory."

Asked about his future, Massa said good results  between now and then end of the season were not going to be essential.

"I think my experience matters more. Everyone knows what I can bring to a team, :bs: especially at a time when everything will start from zero with new rules and I think I can bring a lot to a team."
