McLaren have matched Mercedes offer to Lewis and may allow him more opportunity for commercial deals. Mercedes have committed to F1 until 2020. There are rumours that Lauda may be involved in a Mercedes reshuffle :yuck:

Can you believe it a bidding war for such a universally vilified driver? Who'd have thunk it? :hehe:
I will wait until an official comment from the Lewis camp is issued, but at least short term the circus continues.

Hm, what are the roles - who's the elephant, the clown, the lion tamer?:hehe:

Well if this news is the truth, it just confirms the fact that McLaren needs Lewis more than vice versa. I mean, they provide the terms, and then they blink first by editing their terms to help make up Lewis' mind...I saw play hardball and just stick to your guns...I dont know, smth like "I get paid at least double of what NoGrip is receiving, and get to do my commercial sh*t and this and that"...OR byebye I'm off to Merc since you guys can't stop screwing up my WDC chances. Assuming that Merc now seem to be committed till 2020.

The thing is, though they've upped the offer its still a pay cut and its still less than Button is on. So what does that say to Lewis? We dont value you as much as we value Button. No wonder he looks a little glum at times.

Button sweet talked his way into a better deal. He did come to them as a fresh faces WDC after all. We don't have a clue what Button is making, though, every time I see driver salary figures I see different numbers so I wouldn't assume that Button is making more or perhaps the same as Lewis' current contract, but then again it wouldn't surprise me if it was more.

They're both on 16(euros I think)Jenson signed that for three years last Novemeber, before that he was on less...around 5 if my memory serves me right.
#322716
Yeah but like I said, there is no way for us to actually know those numbers. There's nothing official about it, like there's nothing official about whatever anyone says Lewis is making.

In any case if we believe Mercedes' offer to Lewis and McLaren is willing to match it, then it would still leave Lewis making less (at least from McLaren) than Jenson.

So reading that in detail, what struck me most was that someone at McLaren allowed Hugo boss to have a limitation in their contract to how much promotion McLaren drivers did for other products. That's cuckoo for cocoa puffs on McLaren't part! :yikes:
If Lauda goes to Mercedes, Lewis should stay away...

Lauda was the head cheer leader for the what's wrong with Lewis camp last year. I'm surprised he wants Lewis driving for his team.

Yeah not keen on Lauda being there.

Im sure Ive posted this before but this is where I got the 2012 salary info from

I read somewhere today that Mclaren have now matched Mercedes pay packet. Only thing now is the personal sponsorship that Mclaren have tied down more than Mercedes.

Assuming that it is all about money.

I still think he should go to Merc, look to 2014.

JOKE that lewis is on the same as jenson, i play fifa and the way salary is determined is Age and how good they are. Obvious basic buisness sense, something that Mclaren have :censored: all of, because theyre paying an average/good driver at the end of his career as much as their exceptional young other driver.

Good one Mclaren
