I always liked the Dino and the Testarossa. And the Enzo's not bad :D I would honestly choose a FerrRi if someone said pick a car ( like they will :rofl: ) For me it's not that related to F1, because I'm not keen on how Ferrari have gone about Business in F1, particularly in the Schumacher years. But I can understand the passion.

At the risk of being banned for sacrilege on the Ferrari thread, this is the prancing horse you want when the rubber meets the road.

Banned for Ferrari sacrilege

Just an excerpt that speaks to the initial cost and the present value of the '62 GTO in question:

wrote:">'62 Ferrari 250 GTO sells for record $38 million at Monterey Car Week

...The investors bought the car from the estate of Fabrizio Violati, the scion of a wealthy Italian family who owned the car for decades. He paid the Italian equivalent of $4,000 in 1965 for the GTO, and raced it extensively in vintage events over the years.

The racing pedigree is among the many factors that make the GTO, and Ferraris generally, appealing to collectors.

The brand has an unbroken streak of building some of the world's fastest F1 and GT race cars, which have been piloted by some of the world's best drivers. Ferrari has for decades sold exotic coupes in low volumes at high prices.

Combine those factors with a singular focus on selling two-door sports cars — unlike Porsche, Aston Martin or Lamborghini — and the prancing horse emblem has become synonymous with speed...

Is this the GTO that has a PORSCHE gearbox or are the Ferrari fans prohibited from possessing such dangerous and mind bending facts?

I guess cutting and pasting filters the knowledge one has about their own favourite sports team

Surely if the tifosi know enough to declare which cars are primitive etc at least 1 can enlighten us about the transmission of this car

Ferrari fans are loving the fact that the joke of a penalty handed to Alonso isn't even third page news today. :hehe:

I expected Kimi to get handed a 2 minute penalty after the race for finishing ahead of Alonso

It's nice to see the guy at least be truthful about the issue as opposed to badmouthing how the engines sound or that the sport is suffering because of a lack of competition or whatever other excuse du jour happens to be.

Clear, without blame and focused. How refreshing Ferrari.

ESPNF1 Ferrari team principal Marco Mattiacci says he wants manufacturers to be given the chance to make changes to their engine during a season.

Engines were homologated before the start of the season, with regulations only allowing approved changes to be made for reasons of reliability, safety or cost-saving. After tweaks are made this winter the same rule kicks in at the start of 2015, something Mattiacci wants to see changed.

"Yes, in a certain way - not as rigid as it is today. I would like a certain amount of opportunities a year to work on the engine," Mattiacci said when asked if he wanted the freeze to be lifted.

Mattiacci and his fellow team principals met during the Belgian Grand Prix and he admits this is an issue he raised.

"As you very well know we keep discussing about how to improve - if it's needed - every area of the Formula One product. [In Belgium] we had a fantastic race. But I suppose there are certain areas, the DNA of Formula One is innovating, innovating and catching up with the best one and being as fast as the smartest one. That's what I will keep, as Ferrari, insisting, and one of the areas is engine freezing."

Its clear that he is a real business man and realist, having sold cars to the Americans. Non of that certain fuzzy logic or inefficient but romantic business practices belonging to a long past age that Luca is stuck in. I just hope he gets a few years without being deposed in a coup

More pesky rumors about Luca being given his marching orders come Monday. These rumors just won't go away. We've been assured by Spanky, that's not going to happen and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. :munchies:
