Vettel does what does best which, although fascinating to watch, was rather sad as it Webber had the possibility of Pole.
Let's hope that Mark and Seb have a good battle tomorrow at the front. I mean, if Mark gets through and stays there then he'll win the race - it's not like Vettel can pass him or anything. :P:P:P:P:P:P

Alonso's time was superb today, but I think Massa would have been right up there if he hadn't suffered tyre temperature issues.

The gap between Red Bull and Ferrari and the rest of the field is quite substantial, however the changing conditions in Q3 may have exaggerated it a little. Then again, if this is the true gap then congrats to RB and SF for masking their pace... One of the many downsides of Friday Practice.

Your not far from wrong with your vettle comment

Hes a fast lap specialist not a racing driver.

i'm 100% correct with the above statment/comment.

Spot on Gaz

You say it likes it's a bad thing though.

I mean whats better, a driver that can get the best out of car during both quali and the race. Or a driver who fluffs it during quali and has to make up for it during the race.

With the whole carry your fuel load into Q3 thing gone, lets be honest, races are going to be won or lost during qualifying, and Vettel is a superb talent.

yeh he's got a talent for doing a fast lap, but there's alot riding on him getting that fast lap, and then a good start and then not making mistakes.

In the past he's been done at the start or lost a race after making a mistake later on and being over taken.

Put it this way if he was in 2nd unless he had a really good start i'd say he wouldn't be able to win.

But with Webber, Button or Alonso they all could win that race.

I think in the end it will loose him a WDC.

I've said it before and i'll say it again: Vettel has not yet proved that he can freely overtake through the field.
Although I hope to be proved wrong, it is undeniable that he does not appear as confident when in such a situation.

If you haven't already noticed, Vettel has mirrored parts of his driving on Schumacher - especially when defending a position. It isn't illegal or questionable, but you can see who he looked up to.

But yes, Schumacher did have a knack for slicing his way through the field. Whether he still has it or not remains to be seen. (Even if he does, it'll be hard for him to overtake with these new cars  )

SCHUMI SCHUMI SCHUMI!!!!!:D

I knew that would have appealed to you !!

I just hope I dont need a red bull to stay awake tomorrow morning to see him slice through and at least finish a bit closer to the front..

I'm joining this late since I just couldn't stay up till 3 am last night just to watch the qualifying, so I recorded it and watched it this morning. Reading everything that's being said about Vettel being a qualifying specialists... 3/4 of the grid would pay a pound of flesh to trade places with him. Racing evolves and we may not like where that evolution goes from year to year but right now it's pretty clear that qualifying is of most importance.

Personally, I'm hoping for a wet race.

You can't critize a driver today for not being able to overtake, because the simple fact is, none of them can at the moment.

If you checked his drive at Brazil last, he was fighting through the feild just as well as Button was, overtaking and setting fast lap times. He did the same at Spa, and he did many a great drive during his time with STR.

But if your questioning his ability to overtake based on races like Barcelona. When was the last time someone made a pass within the top 3 or 4, mid stint, during dry race, without using KERS. Overtaking is so difficult in modern formula 1, you just can't critize drivers for a lack of it.

haha Alonso fans better just chill their only hope is 3rd unless Redbull break down again. Cant wait to see the Lambs at the track tomorrow when their team doesnt win! hopefully its an Aussie RBR that wins though :D

No, if Alonso gets a good start he can get into second (in Front of Webber) and hold that position.

By your reasoning is McLaren's best hope 4th and 11th?

Alonso won't beat a Redbull unless they break down again!
