I'm a bit confused about Alonso getting punished, his statement seemed to imply that he did lift off when going through that yellow flagged section. The rest deserve their grid penalties in my opinion.


Captain Invincible is it? Works for me, although probably for the opposite reason than was originally intended.

Did you read the report posted there: "Swiss driver Buemi was also reprimanded by the stewards for driving back to the pits with a damaged car and impeding other drivers."

The Stewards having received a report from the Race Director that Car No 12, Sebastien Buemi had
suffered serious damage at the exit of turn 14 and subsequently impeded other drivers during Q2 met
the driver and the team representative concerned.

Having heard the driver and considered the video evidence the Stewards concluded that the driver had
impeded other cars during Q2 following the accident and that the damaged car posed a potential
hazard to the other cars participating in the Qualifying Session.

This is a breach of Articles 30.13 and 31.7 of the 2009 Formula One Sporting Regulations.

The Stewards decide to impose a penalty of a reprimand and a drop of 5 grid positions.

Not that lucky really. Most teams had the sense to get their drivers out as soon as possible. Given that we'd already had quite a few crashes, it was silly to wait in the pits and risk not getting a lap in (as Barrichello and Button did).

I agree about Alonso though, I'd love to see his sector times for that lap.

he wasnt that fast anyway but did he deserve to be put back further ?? he may as well go change his engine and gearbox and start last... shame man

To be fair Tony how do you know Hamilton wouldn't of slowed down?

Hes the most paranoid driver out there after all the penalty's he got in 08.

Hmm. I'm beginning to wonder if they're going off fastest overall time, because Alonso did set his fastest lap of the session there. However, that is kind of by default, since previous laps were hindered by the red flag.
