I think McLaren have had issues and have been sandbagging at the same time I think they have been carrying more fuel I’m sure I read somewhere that today they were keeping the car pretty heavily fuelled most of the time. I still think even with the new aero package they have rear end stability problems.

Here’s a shot of the practice start I was talking about in my post on Tuesday. Kovalainen in front, Raikkonen behind, but the Ferrari was ahead after 300 metres or so, fantastic grip off the line and it’s the first part of the start which makes the difference.

I mention it because it also caught the attention of some of the engineers from other teams I spoke to.

I’m finding this McLaren under-performance story fascinating. There are many who think it’s a new approach to testing in a season when testing will be banned from two weeks from now onwards. McLaren have even run Monaco parts along with the rest of the job sheet.

Ex team principal Ron Dennis stepped in today to say that everything is under control and that they will fight for the title. I’m sure they will but the car lacks grip right now.

The day started with a hard fog with 8º C and the air humidity about 92%.
So no car has dared a fast lap and has already past 1:30 of tests.

At 10:30 the weather got better and the times so far are:

14:24 - De Spaanse fans worden steeds grover tegen Lewis Hamilton. Formule 1-fans kunnen op het Circuit de Catalunya een toer boeken. Bij deze toer wordt een rondleiding verzorgd op en rondom het circuit, inclusief een pitwalk.

Enkele minuten geleden was er een groep Spanjaarden die bij het inrijden van de pitstraat door Lewis Hamilton hun vuisten en middelvingers opstaken. De circuitdirectie is hier ook absoluut niet blij mee maar kan er weinig aan doen, zo vertellen ze.
