You guys should have called in for coffee. I live 10 mins from the circuit! The museum were WELL unhelpful when i tried to arrange a trip for my school kids. So poo to them.

Did you relay anything else to the museum? How much time did you give them to reply, did you let them know your a true F1 fan, did you let them know that it would be great exposure for them via your forum contact's and that it would instill the passion of motor racing into our future governor's of the sport? Wish I could have been there because I WOULD have secured a tour  .

Maybe this is a good opportunity for you to persue next years tour??

Dont take no for an answer as the future of the museum depend's on people like you.

Its a long story. Spoke to the guy in charge on the phone. He wasnt keen. We could have gone but he made the terms very difficult and unfair. I should have made more fuss but it was towards the end of a very busy term and I had a GP to arrange (our sports day was a GP). I could have got Gillet some good publicity on the local news from our GP but sod them! Some of my kids still went with their parents.

From F1 Live:

Silverstone requesting a decision regarding the2010 British GP

The British Grand Prix is set to establish its new long-term destination at the Donington Park circuit next year, but doubts regarding the venue's ability to be fully funded and readied in time for the 2010 round continue to persist.

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone recently stated that if such was the case, the event will simply remain at Silverstone for an extra year. However, despite the traditional track's eagerness to host a Grand Prix once more, Managing Director Richard Phillips has raised a warning sign.

He pointed out the lack of details or confirmations emanating from Donington Park and the fact that Silverstone must know in the near future if it will need to prepare its facilities or not for next year's race.

"We have a strategy for it, but every day that goes past there is damage done," Phillips told our colleagues at Autosport. "I personally think that if we don't know in around six weeks then it is starting to become rather difficult."

He also revealed that Silverstone had contacted Donington Park management in order to work out a 'Plan B', however the response indicated little interest in doing so but showed much confidence in their own readiness.

Phillips believes Bernie Ecclestone will have to soon sit down and determine which venue will host the 2010 Grand Prix and act accordingly, or neither track will be ready and the F1 circus will have to forego the British round.

"I am presuming that, like in most contracts, there is some fall-over time that you cannot go past," he mused. "I am hoping that Bernie Ecclestone will say enough is enough.

"There is not much we can do about it, other than keep saying that we are ready to go, willing to go and capable," Phillips added.

Silverstone are well within their rights to some answers here. The whole situation is a shambles.

Donington has just five weeks to prove to Bernie Ecclestone that preparations are on track to host the British Grand Prix next year.

Speculation has dogged the Leicestershire venue since it signed a 17-year contract to take the Formula One race away from Silverstone, but the F1 chief executive at Valencia confirmed that the track has not yet got its finances in place.

"They have got until the end of September to produce a bank guarantee and their contract depends on that. If they don't it's adios amigos," the Briton told the Sunday Express.

A Donington spokesperson said: "We are unable to disclose any information about funding.
"

Ecclestone has said previously that if Donington cannot deliver, Formula One will remain at its current British home at Silverstone.

The news comes just two days before members of the Silverstone-owning British Racing Drivers' Club vote on a plan to apparently sell the running of the track to a wealthy investor.

From F1 Live:

Donington boss Simon Gillett travelled to the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend to tell Bernie Ecclestone that plans for his circuit's Formula One race are on track for next year.

Gillett's plans to host future British Grand Prix at Donington have been dogged by speculation, causing F1 chief executive Ecclestone to issue a September ultimatum and put Silverstone on standby.

The biggest uncertainty has been about how Gillett can raise the necessary funds to so substantially upgrade the Leicestershire venue by a July 2010 race date.

"It has been difficult with the global financial markets the way they were but things are very positive now," he told the Daily Express following his visit to Spa Francorchamps.

"Now (construction company) McAlpine are on site and a huge amount of work is going on," Gillett added.

But as for when he will make the debenture funding plans public, he simply answered "soon".

"All I can say is that we look forward to having a great British Grand Prix and welcoming F1 to Donington next year," said Gillett.

Ecclestone said he is also confident the circuit can deliver, despite telling team bosses at Spa that if the British GP is not at Donington next year, it will stay instead at Silverstone.

"We met up and Simon says things are fine. He just needs to get on with the work now to be ready in time," Ecclestone said.
