Congratulations to Nico for serving his punishment of letting Lewis one. Sadly he had to cut the chicane twice to let him through because Lewis was not fast enough to take advantage of it the 1st time.

interesting idea

But why would Nico choose to cut the chicane when he had Lewis AND another driver both able to take advantage??

Do you mean Nico is not that smart at all :yikes:

As soon as they said it was only the start routine, I knew he'd come back to win it. It was a serene sense of knowing the outcome of a race that I've actually never experienced before.

Yeah, especially considering Hamilton has been at least 3 tenths faster all weekend
NR getting booed...even while speaking in Italian. *facepalm*

Yeah that was pretty bad, Lewis should have said on the mic something like "hey hey guys don't boo him, that's not fair" as that would have done him wonders
This crowd is as wild as at Silverstone

I bet Jean was plugged to say that

I love it when a driver overtakes and you can hear the crowd, that's why I like theses engines more than previous ones.
All those fans :eek: and the cheer for lewis :cloud9::clap::clap::clap::clap:

It's awesome seeing and hearing happy fans
When Lewis had that start issue, I thought here we go again. Anyway great effort to work his way back and win that one, Nico seem to crack under pressure and gift wrapped it for Lewis

Nico also messed up when not under pressure which was unusual, I wonder if he had brake issues.

All those fans :eek: and the cheer for lewis :cloud9::clap::clap::clap::clap:

In Italy! That was wild. :D

And all those rotten immigrant British/tourists with their booing of blue eyed blondie.....tsk tsk tsk.

when it comes to booing, why does everyone assume it is the British fans? just wondering

Unfortunately the majority of the booing is by the British which is sort of understandable but I do think it's wrong.

Disagree Ryry....the best thing he couldn've done is what he did, do nothing. Winning fans is not as important as winning Rosberg's mind. This WDC is white hot battle till the end, Rosberg needs to suffering every inch of the way mentally and an example of how it benefits Lewis, well we saw it in spades today.

Being friends again is the last thing he should do. I was a bit disappointed when he patted Rosbergs back, should've stayed cold and said "we're teammates"...and ended it there.

Anthony Davidson laughed at that idea, I too think it's a ridiculous idea. Hamilton would have been very downbeat about a victory like that and would not have wanted that at all.

Apart from Nico cracking and a brilliantly controlled race from Lewis ( despite his engineer telling him to drop back 2.5 secs) what else?

Did I hear booing? And did I see Lewis surreptitiously trying to silence the boos with his hand? And WHAT a cheer for Lewis!!!!! Rosberg gave a speech in Italian which received hardly any response, Lewis said two words and got a massive cheer!! The pitlane looked amazing for the podium ceremony. A stark contrast I expect from what we will see now Europe is finished.

Well Button showed everyone why McLaren fired the wrong man last years. And he let me down , as I somehow expected he would, in the pool! brilliant fighting from Perez in an inferior car.

A shame for Alonso in Tifosi land, I was disappointed he went out.

Pleased for Massa. He gets some stick but he drove well and it was good to see him on the podium.

Ricci and Bottas, great drives as usual. I especially loved some of Riccis moves.

I didn't have English commentary and it was over the internet that kept freezing. At the beginning all the lights were about to go out and the very next thing Lewis was fourth!! :yikes::yikes: nightmare! I didn't see what had happened until the replay and then didn't know why. It was the car was it? Was the launch thing wrong?

Think about it Hammer, if he had said that he wins respect from other drivers, fans, team bosses, FIA and Rosberg... Rosberg would appreciate it and be more careful and respectful on the track and Lewis would feel superior with the confidence and knowing everyone thinks better of him than Rosberg.

I wasn't sure if he gestured to the crowd at first I thought he did but then thought he was going for the microphone to tell them to stop booing but then thought it was going for the flag to sign it.

Just watched it again and he definitely does gesture to the crowd to stop booing

Lewis did do a 'cool it ' gesture with his hand when the booing was on. Personally I think like Hammer says he should now remain polite and professional with Nico but that's it. Nico made his choices.

From what I understand it was his RS(race start) mode was playing up and didn't have fullpower for the start I think.

No, Rosberg was a pr!ck even after racing alongside since Lewis since kids. What makes you think he's going to be a changed leaf after a kind nudge from Lewis?

If I were Lewis, I'd keep his mind battered and lost instead of lifting him up to friend level again and come back stronger in the next race.

Plenty of time to make up after the WDC is won.
#416149
We saw Rosberg cut the chicane at Canada too when being pressured by Hamilton and I think there were a few off track near misses at Spa. Clearly fast over one lap but questionable over a race distance.

This "faster lewis, mentally stronger Nico" is not true at all. I am beginning to worry about that bet...
#416151
Really nice racing today up and down the grid. Good to see that. The FI and McLaren scraps, the Red Bull intra team battle and Bottas driving back up from having Lewis' poor luck at the start cost him more than it cost Lewis actually.

Five very exciting drives today, Bottas, Perez, Ricciardo, Hamilton and Magnussen. Top notch guys!

:yikes: Whaaa.... You've still got a 22 point lead!?!?!

Na, f that, I want to see some aggressive man-love next time they are on the podium together, perhaps Lewis should dry-hump Nico while he's answering some inane beat-up media question.
