@ Calvin I think Andrew is 30. Dont know why, he may have said that himself. (Andrew?) But he does like a good arguement. :D

30?! :yikes: No need for that sort of talk.

So I got that wrong. It did seem wrong. Wonder where that came from then?

In the words of the Bard, :censored: if I know! :hehe:

Great write up about Lewis by the BBC F1 team

Alonso should be ahead of him for sure! Alonso is the best overall driver on the grid at the moment. :)

:yikes: I would ask for witness protection and relocation saying that in this thread.... I however agree with you.

:hehe::hehe: You both either drunk or having senior moments. I wont point out the obvious disclaimer to that view, that would be unfair to drunk or senior persons. :P

I'm not drunk so I guess I must be having a senior moment; I have been very impressed with Alonso this year; definitely would put him ahead of Hamilton!

So, Lewis Hamilton has been voted the 15th greatest driver of all time by the BBC F1 team... ahead of the likes of Nelson Piquet, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jack Brabham, Graham Hill and Jochen Rindt.

15th? Already? It's surely too early to put him on the list!

Alonso should be ahead of him for sure! Alonso is the best overall driver on the grid at the moment. :)

How can you be sure? From what I've seen, both drivers have taken their cars to the limits in every race with no mistakes, while Ferrari has maximized their opportunities, McLaren have minimized theirs as much as possible.

Huh?

I was talking about overall ability.

The thing is its all about opinion and preference anyway. Even with the current drivers, though most are agreed on the top three, opinions are divided about the order of the top three. When you start trying to compare different eras it becomes even more difficult and even more down to your personal preference. So whilst Im completely behind the BBC F1's choice...thats just my choice . There can be no right and wrong answer.

Lewis has won one title yet is ahead of people who have won 3... I mean Sir Jack Brabham is a legend how can he be ahead of him? It's a BS and pointless list especially with such Bias shown by the Brits.
#304273
Its not just about titles. Schumacher has 7 but Id put Senna and Villeneuve(and loads of others) above him any day.
#304275
No its not, how about things like winning races and titles in a car baring your own name... Maybe when you look back at Lewis's career but right now he is not ahead of some of the people mentioned. But again it's a BBC list so go figure.

I respect your opinion, but out of curiousity where do you think Lewis is lacking compared to Alonso in driving ability? This is not a challenge mind you, I'm just curious.

His lacking in driving is from 29 grid spot penalties and about 30 seconds added to his pitstops. :hehe: We'd be seeing Hamilton ahead in the WDC currently by a comfy 30 point lead. There's still time for McLaren to tidy things up in the garage for both of their drivers.
