F1 is different things to different people, just like most sports

To start directing others to consider things 'they might find interesting' leads to burning certain books because readers should conform to 'acceptable areas of interest' and cannot be trusted to know what is 'really interesting' according to people who prefer other people they come across to do what they find interesting and therefore non threatening or non 'boring' to them

Guys, sometimes we see what we "want" to see. Did you guys actually read this paragraph?

But… Last year McLaren build a crackingly good racing car. It was comfortably the fastest at the start of the season and comfortably the fastest at the end. It should have given Lewis Hamilton his second title and maybe an incentive to stay at the team. And yet it delivered no silverware, exposed the team’s poor racecraft, blew apart the notion that McLaren are the non plus ultra when it comes to in-season development and most certainly played a part in the loss not only of Hamilton but of Paddy Lowe, the team’s technical director, who has followed Hamilton to Mercedes.

I think there's quite a bit of sarcasm in what was written which clearly is being missed.

DIdn't miss that, what is unfair is talking about Hamilton being 'outpaced' and as a result, tweeting away while shaking in his boots...implying that he was 'afraid of Button's pace'

More like shaking in fury because of being misled again by the team and as a result, suffering a 1s disadvantage per lap in qualifying in relation with your teammate. The article attempts to mislead a reader, if it was sarcasm it was executed poorly.

That really was an appalling piece of journalism. If the writer knows anything about Hamilton whatsoever, it is that he is not afraid of his team mates...any team mate. He was not afraid of Alonso as a young rookie and you can be damned sure he was never afraid of Button. It's rubbish like that that perpetuates the dislike of Button by Hamilton's supporters. 'Not Buttons fault what is written' I hear the cry. No that's true but he hasn't been entirely innocent in his manipulation of the press. Lewis was mislead at Spa by McLaren, told that wing was nip and tuck with the one Button was taking, and it wasn't , it wasn't even in the same ball park. Maybe McLaren got it wrong, it was mightily wrong, but lets give them the benefit of the doubt. Why didnt they put their hand up and say, we messed up for Lewis today, he was badly briefed on the wing and we cost him the race...but no, they have to laud it as a stunning Button win. Like the time he won in China after taking Lewis out. Well I guess Lewis had had enough so he tweeted the data then walked. I imagine he was livid, I was. And when rubbish like ' Lewis was quaking in his boots' gets written well is gonna get refuted. Every lie, every time.

Did you know that Mclaren have not yet exercised their option on Button for next year?

Now here's a thought.......Do you think Mclaren could be radical enough to be in contention for the services of one mister Raikkonen? I don't think they would, not with Martin at the helm, but one never knows

I'd be chuffed for McLaren if they actually pull that off. I have zero confidence in them managing to come to their senses and making this happen, but damn if it happens hats off big time to them.

There is a rumour that has been floating around that Kimi moves to Mclaren and Button takes a year out. What is clear is that Sergio must remain if the sponsor deficit is to be addresses. also Kimi is on a much lower wage than Button and has much better results

Also Sergio has declared that his target this season is to beat Button. Maybe the team gave him the target

If Button only has an option for 2014, I am going to put money on Kimi, Hulk, Massa or di Resta there next year instead of the self declared duck

Here's the article where Button was questioned about next year. He kindov makes it sound like its his decision, that he has decided he'd like to stay at Mclaren, but the facts of the matter are, he hasn't had his option taken up yet.

Kimi, Hulk or di Resta would indeed be a massive improvement for the team's short and long term prospects.

I think Massa partnering Perez would make sense as well for the following reasons;
McLarens ambitions and urgent need for South American sponsors, and also we know Massa can drive well when he is loved by the team, he would be the perfect experienced driver to Sergios fast rookie.
Massa as number one driver would bring sponsors, would be way cheaper and has competed for a WDC without a car with 2 seconds advantage.
Also they would have a better chance of snapping Massa up than persuading Kimi, Hulk or even Di Resta to pick McLaren above the other seats given the state of the team

What do you think Mclarens new Livery will be in 2015, no vodafone, honda and Telmex.

Ahem... are you insinuating that his miserable performance of late is because he is not loved at Ferrari?? :yikes:

Looks alright. Is this version of the livery for certain? Or just a possibility?

Interesting, but for me its still too much clinging to the Marlboro era. I hope they take 2015 as a chance to be bold and maybe get some Can am orange back in there. Get their own colour like Lotus or Ferrari
