If Lewis can KERS Button and Vettel at the start he would be looking very good for a podium!

I don't think he would get both of them, but Button could have another bad start (like Silverstone) and lose a position to Lewis that way. With the disadvantage of lower temperatures and possibly rain, it's certainly something that could happen. On the other hand, Vettel has fluffed a few of his starts this year, too...

In fact, of the top six, the only one I don't remember having a bad start this year is Webber.

To be fair, Button has been pretty supreme at starts this year. He only had a bad one at Silverstone because he was pretty badly impeded!

Hamilton will pit 1 lap after Vettel, he must KERS a way through him or he'll be in trouble. I have a feeling McLaren isn't good enough to overtake Red Bull. YET!

HAHA you make it sound like Kers is some sort of missile. Good analogy !

It's like what a missile would be if you let the Swiss design them. Useless, boring and universally despised.

Brawn are trying something new in their strategies. For all this talk of Hamilton managing to make KERS stop being a damp squib and somehow manage to use it to make an unprecedented KERS-powered leap up the grid with the Brawns conveniently slow off the line, it seems like it may in fact be the White, yellow and black cars planning on making rapid forward motion.

Brawn maybe trying new Strategies but with those fuel loads I would be expecting them further to the front of the grid. I don't get why you don't think the McLaren KERS works because it does! It has given Lewis and HK quite a few places off the line this year and if it does not rain I'm sure it will again, also you talk about Brawn making bad starts off the line I think Rubens has made quite a lot of bad starts this year.

McLaren have (at last) taken a significant step forward, though are probably still half a second off the pace. McLaren have a great chance of a podium finish tomorrow, and some good points for the rest of the season.

:hehe: Everyone's so optimistic about McLaren all of a sudden. Part of their speed this weekend, it the McLarens ability to get heat into their tyre's quickly, and considering the freezing tempertures, that's given them a massive boost this weekend

But anyway, moving on. Off the line, the guys starting on the left will be sluggish off the line. So thats Barrichello and Vettel in trouble. Not to mention the pesky KERS cars behind them, Vettel will be in for an awful race if he can't get a good start tomorrow. As for a McLaren podium, well. Something would have to happen two of the top 4 cars, because on pace, Red Bull and Brawn are still faster.

no mate because Lewis was a Second faster than Hekki so its the new parts on Lewis Car

Yes, LH's new front wing is different from all the others before on this year's McLarens. Until now, the front wing used to guide the air straight onto the rear wing which didn't work too well for them. This new front wing actually sends the air right above the rear wing and they found it to be working much better according to Steve Matchett.

I'd still say that the temperatures are making the upgrades look better in relation to the rest of the pack than they actually are, but it's definitely a good step forward at any rate.

Also, just saw this on JA's website:

#f1 Mercedes boss Norbert Haug told us this afternoon that he is in talks to supply three customers next year, this will include Red Bull

Interesting...

The acid test for McLaren's updates will be Spa, ie at the type of track where they've had all the problems this season...

It's hard judge accurately by Q3 times to be honest, one because of fuel loads and also because of the chaotic conditions today. If you look at Q1, where Lewis was 4 tenths quicker than Kovy, I think thats more accurate. The upgrades are probably worth around 4 tenths.

Really I think it's a mixture of all things. Good upgrades, good conditions, and a track that suits the McLaren better, that has lead to them being much closer to the front all of a sudden. But as Ewman, somewhere like Spa will be the acid test.

:yes::yes:

McLaren will have it easier the next few races on the "tracks that should suit their car.". :hehe:
