There was a rumor on a couple of other forums that Alonso has been talking to Mercedes ....
When does Nico's contract expire?
Is it too early to start our "next year's crazy rumours thread"?

Nico's contract expires in 2016 if I remember correctly. I believe he signed it back in 2011

His contract expires at the end of this year.

Dun dun duuuuuuuun!!!

Alonso and Hamilton again? To hell with that

I'd like .... strike that ..... love to see them together but at Ferrari, so before I can think about that, my team has to get the act together and build a competitive car!!!!

In FP3, was Lewis hiding his light under a bushel? Understandably, on his chosen flying lap, he had to abort due to the double yellow flags for Max's car issues at turn 5 but I've seen signs he's holding a little something for qualifying. Nico's top time (1.25.887) in FP3 is only a whisker faster than his previous fastest time in FP2 (1.25.973) but nowhere near the almost half a second gap to his team-mate. Lewis didn't seem eager to want to do multiple flying laps, more keen to just work on sectors and tidying up entry/exit in certain corners.

On the subject of upgrades, am I the only one who is really surprised at the lack of significant upgrades by teams? I mean, for the last two weeks all the talk from team officials and drivers up and down the paddock has been about bringing big upgrades to catch or MercedesAMG Hybrid or better the other teams in front of them. Now as I read and hear a lot of the chatter, the reality is, they only brought enough for a tenth or two, not really altering the landscape. As has become quite evident, Mercedes have brought a large step to widen the gap even further. Did I read too much into the battle cry of the other teams?

IMO, no team was ever going to make a significant dint in the Mercedes lead. I'm wondering if Mercedes will bother much with upgrades for the rest of this year, rather, they may turn most of their attention to '15 onwards.

Nico can't seem to stay focused on the plot. He keeps focusing on his hatred of coming second to Lewis and I think it will continue to hurt him. Not that I think over the course of the season he can do much about it but the mental side of this inter-team battle could be the beginning of Nico's undoing.

Not that it would make any difference to the results on the podium;
but, here's hoping the Image are waved at the right time!

((Yes, I know there is only one flag; but, that the gif I found! :P ))

Looking over the times in order to make my pool picks... Red Bull is one second off the W05, Ferrari is two seconds off and Williams are somewhere in between them. I think that will be the established marching order for the remainder of the season with Force India making a genuine bid for possession of fifth in the constructors.

If it was Ferrari in Mercedes' position I'd be picking them for a 1-2. Believe me, it's much sweeter picking and then seeing your man and his team in a 1-2 than it was seeing someone else and their team in a 1-2. I can see how one could get used to it. :blush:
