Rosberg was massively faster in final practice, Mercedes has got qualifying in the bag, however Hamilton has not.

The Finn's had an image and writing on the top facing the TV camera that said "James Hunt" and "1976 World Champion". FOM deemed that to be in breach of the TV rules and Raikkonen has been asked to cover it up.

what am I missing here? I don't get it. WHY?

It had to rain for qualifying didn't it. F**king weather.

Di Resta out and VDG in,Massa's car didn't get repaired in time, give Ferrari another hour Massa would have been out there, slicks for Q2 surely
Grosjean out,VDG 15th

Di Resta as usual whining about his team making mistakes, and he wonders why all the top teams are afraid to take him on board.

Silver front row. :D

Tomorrow's going to be fun. Well done to both Merc drivers, just a tenth between them. Nico's 3rd pole position in a row!!! :drink:

The Hulk handily out qualifies Gutierrez. Esteban has been, well disappointing so far with Sauber. Perez is looking like a changed man within McLaren.

Mercedes is quick, and Nico is on fire, with a three straight pole run, out qualifying Lewis which is no easy feat. Merc is so confident in the car they were using DRS even with the inters!

Qualifying in Monaco is exciting.

What should be the strategy then? If you were Brawn and had the car you had now.

I'd employ a no.1, no.2 treatment from the 2nd lap onwards...first Merc to complete the first lap gets no.1 status, the other Merc backs up the field over the first 5-7 laps giving the lead Merc a massive chance of victory. Assuming Mercs are 1-2 after the first lap of course.

S1 cost Hamilton pole,he was fastest in S2 and 3 but lost 0.2 in S1 and that was the big difference, these are the fastest sectors from both

S1 - Nico Rosberg 19.343
Lewis Hamilton 19.580 +0.237

S2 - Lewis Hamilton 34.295
Nico Rosberg 34.407 +0.112

S3 - Lewis Hamilton 20.092
Nico Rosberg 20.124 +0.032

Nico Rosberg combined time: 1:13.874(pole time was 1:13.876,so Nico had 0.002 in hand)
Lewis Hamilton combined time:1:13.967

And the Mercedes were fastest in every sector with atleast one driver, they were 1-2 in S3,1-3 in S2,1-4 in S1

Quotes:
"The conditions were all over the place," said Rosberg. "Then it started drizzling again so the lap times got a lot slower. It was changing so much - you have to be on the right tyres at the right time. Everything when to plan and the last lap went OK." On the potential of being the first son of a former winner: "It's always nice to hear statistics like that, but It doesn't change much for tomorrow. I'm very happy. In Barcelona we were struggling lot in the race and I finished 70 seconds behind the winner. We're improving step by step, but there are still a lot of questions remaining. It's still our weakness, but we'll make the best of it and who knows."

"I didn't expect to be here, I've been struggling all weekend and my pace has been slacking. I've struggled with the car and this is the first time that's happened since 2005. It's been a difficult weekend so I'm happy to have been able to lock out the front row for the team. It's been a massive improvement for me."

What I got was that it Was considered advertising the coming Hunt movie later this year, whose producers I guess haven't paid for mr E.

Yeah well sounds silly but not that surprising

No surprise in Mercedes or nico performance.

RB surprised me by being faster than Ferrari.
So Race will be Merc against Vettel and chased by Kimi and alonso.

end result if no nI accidents is within those 5 drivers on pole.

Massa & Grosjean suprised me in most negative way, I'm expecting them to show some results once in a whole, but no. If those two guys get another season I'd expect to see Piquet jr kind of loyalty services soon.

Well he didn't take it off, glad the middle finger salute went FOM's way.

They are hardly old friends. I recall Bernie saying that it would be worst thing that could ever happen to F1 if Kimi wins the WDC. that was when he was still driving at McLaren, but yeah you can hardly see two people in F1 business who are so fundamentally faraway from each others worlds. I mean think about it, if there's a driver you cannot think would be able to sit down and have a dinner at Ecclestone mansion, it must be Kimi. it is just such a mismatch of personalities and behaviours.
