No matter which way you look at it; 2014 is going to be a; let's say character building season, assuming that the Enstone boys will make it to the grid; I think that Boulier and his team have only themselves to blame, they knew that Raikkonen was out of their price bracket and now they are suffering after having to pay off Raikkonen's wages with their constructors winning and now it's looking likely that they will miss the first official pre season test. Let's hope that the supposed budget cap happens which will allow smaller outfits to have a fighting chance.

From what I have read they never expected the 2012 car to be as good as it was. So they overspent on giving out bonus' to the team.

You'd think they would have raked in 50 million just from the sale of leave me alone I know what I'm doing Kimi tee shirts.

They're owned by a PE firm. By nature, those guys are never generous....seems more like GC being greedy with the returns and letting the race team starve a bit too much.

Considering they haven't got an engine yet, or haven't got enough money to pay off their previous debts this isn't surprising.

EDIT:

WHEN ARE WE LIKELY TO SEE THE E22?
We’re going to keep our car under wraps a little longer than some other teams. We’ve decided that attending the Jerez test isn’t ideal for our build and development programme. We are likely to unveil the car before attending the Bahrain tests, and in Bahrain we should really be able to put the car through its paces in representative conditions.

Lotus to replace reserve Valsecchi with youngster Sorensen

...According to the Italiaracing publication, Lotus looks set to turn to the similarly Eric Boullier-managed, 23-year-old Danish driver Marco Sorensen for 2014.

He raced in Lotus’ black and gold colours in the Formula Renault 3.5 series last year, finishing seventh, and in September made his Formula 1 test debut in a two-year-old car at the Paul Ricard track. (GMM)

Lol I read this as "Lotus throws away wallet when they found a bigger wallet in the bushes in Enstone!"

Can you reserve a reserve driver who never drove for you at the moment you needed a reserve driver?

maybe Lotus have been given special dispensation to race 2014 entirely in the simulator. maybe this new reserve driver is actually a virtual one
