Again, IF teams and drivers agree on their respective roles, no one else's opinion matters or should impact on how they conduct business between themselves.
Again, Massa can't just show up to perform in the last half of the season, when his contract is under threat and expect to be treated like a #1 anything!
Again, there is no way for any of us to know what goes on behind closed doors at any of the teams. Nor is there any way for any of us to know what does and doesn't motivate drivers! All we do "know" is based on speculation of what we are allowed to see in the media!
After the agony of defeat, success will be sweet!
...You don't need to be camping outside the factories to show your support, Kimi shows bugger all support and still gets treated like the CEO of Lotus simply by performing when he's on track and at race weekends.
Massa was indeed performing, especially towards the back of last season where he was continually treated as Ferrari's b!tch. So in my view he's in the same mindframe as Webber now, collect a fat paycheck and just act like you care until you get fired. In Webber's case his future is set, so he knows where he's going. Massa will go wherever he gets paid.
Personally, I hope Ferrari keep him since I don't like Ferrari and I see him as a liability...but for Ferrari's sake they need to get rid of him for someone more driven. Until the new guy gets pissed off as well with the shoddy treatment and becomes another Massa. I mean, no driver at the sharp end will bother to give a 100% at the no.2 Redbull and Ferrari seats because they aren't built to be idiots, you don't reach F1 that way. You become demotivated, something Ferrari are pros at...cue Eddie Irvine, Rubens Barrichello, Kimi Raikkonen (2008), and now Massa. The next victim is yet to be announced.
