I just hope the McLarens have the pace to not let Vettel scamper away into the distance this time.

I'll be watching the re-run of the race. I just desperately need some sleep before next week starts.

If Lewis doesn't get a good start, your prayers are futile. :hehe:

I'm sort of hoping that Lewis gets a better start than Jenson, because Lewis tends to bomb it right away, while Jenson takes a little longer to get fully up to speed. Jenson will probably have it all coming together by the race's end. Different styles, but both great. But Lewis should be stronger at the start.

Why was jenson dallying around so Lewis had to back off?

It's not like there wasn't any room between Jenson and the flag. Webber made it through. He and Schumi were obviously just more aware of the time constraints than Lewis was.

Domenicali calls for qualifying tweak

...

"Once again today, as has happened before during this season, we have seen cars - no less than four in Q3 - give up on doing a flying lap," Domenicali said. "Far be it for me to criticise those who made this choice, which is absolutely respectable from a technical point of view, I think it shows something is not right in the way qualifying is run and we should give it some careful thought for the future, because I don't think it's such a good thing for the spectators in the grandstand, who, I must say here are amazing in the way they make you feel their passion for Formula One and for those who are watching on television."

...

[Paul Hembery speaking now]: "It now seems to become a trend that some cars qualifying in Q3 do not set a time in order to save tyres, so we will be working with the teams and the FIA to find a solution that is acceptable to everybody to avoid this kind of scenario in the future, as it is not fair on the spectators," he said. "We have made a number of proposals in the past, which the teams rejected, but today showed that this remains a problem, which we would like to solve."

Well as long as the FIA make rules where qualifying affect the race be it car setup tyres etc we will see teams qualifying with the race in mind.

Simple solution make qualifying it's own event be rid of parc ferme and allow separate allocations of tyres for race and qualifying and the fans will have a show

Or alternatively, why not just punish teams/drivers with a five place grid drop if they don't go out or complete a timed lap without good reason!!! That'll make them think twice!!!

Look where Button is:

Sorry but in qualifying especially on a high downforce track, you dont want to be close to the car in front of you and I dont think ANY driver would want to have a car in vision in front of them.

McLaren just f8cked up by releasing both cars so late. And they weren't the only ones, there was no way for Lewis, Webber and Michael to make clean air laps with that little time. There was basically no time to spare.

Notch up another team f8ck up. Pole was in sight yesterday.

It takes 2 seconds to do a wing adjustment, people do it during their pitstops in a race.
#278878
Two races in a row now he's had quali 3 screwed up.

I don't agree about the gap to Button, of course going into the chicane, he'll look closer but as soon as they get going that gap widens considerably; hence he concertina effect!

It's an accepted fact that teams release their cars as late as possible to be the last across the line to get that perfect lap that no-one can beat because they are last to take the chequered flag!

Either way, whatever you're view, third is far from a disaster; a McLaren 1-2 could still happen if their practice pace translate into race pace!

No. Leiws will get squeezed out. then someone will touch him/he will touch someone. then either he goes out with damage or the stewards finnish him.Jens wins or comes second. Whitmarsh has an orgasm and all hell decends once again on lewis. Not much point watchin the race really.

Gotta like how Vettel gets away with that start block, and they wait til he gets some lead gap before the announce no further investigation...

No further action. At least Alan Jones has some sense. I didnt see anything wrong with Vettels move either.
