... we are always factually correct.

As is this fact:-
For the other 19 races that made up the 2012 season Jenson outscored Lewis by 23 points :)

Fair enough, if it makes you happy that your particular stat proves anything. F1 is about winning and to LAP another driver in identical equipment is what legends are made of

If both those drivers were wearing red overalls, I wonder what the Tifosi would have said.

I'd have been less surprised by Nando lapping Felipe that Lewis lapping Jenson.
I'd have been stunned if Felipe ended up beating Nando by 23 points over the balance of the year

can we please just divert this circular discussion to a "Lewis vs Jenson" thread? it would be really nice to leave this one for actual Jenson news instead of a 4 year old ongoing argument that consumes everything else. but maybe I'm fundamentally misunderstanding the point of these "that driver" threads...

Ah a voice of reason at last! Maybe we should make a Jenson vs Lewis thread.... Oh wait there was one at one point.

Lets get this thread back on track. Its a Button support thread afterall.
For any Button supporters who may not have seen it, here is a picture Jenson himself posted as part of his 'manifesto'

You fail to note the fact that Lewis achieved his defeat of Jenson without the benefit of preferred driver status that's bestowed on Alonso you know, breaking transmission seals etc. So it's not like we're comparing apples to apples here.

You could say that Jenson lost by two points despite his teams effort to have him claim the victory honors in 2012.

Really? well it's not so stunning if Alonso was leading 3 races comfortably only to have car failures and Massa profited massively from each one of those failures (gaining a place). Take it from us Lewis fans, we know. :hehe:

If Nando, despite his clear number 1 status (FIFTY) was unable to LAP Massa under normal circumstances, I doubt he would be able to do so as an equal. And he probably would not be able to LAP a WDC equal teammate either.
But then Nando is not Lewis, as we discovered in 2007 when the rookie Hamilton beat Alonso

Back to Button, at least he didnt get Lapped by Sergio last year proving Whitmarsh's genius in providing a teammate dynamic that worked well enough to season best n best 4th place :hehe:

This thread was closed for a while and remained dormant. I'd like to be fair to all, that we don't continue with the repetitive arguments and have to close it again (it takes two to tango remember) and that we make an honest attempt at keeping these driver threads with an air of "support" and although I wouldn't want anyone to provide a reasonable and factual argument against a particular driver, there's a preponderance of repetition here.

Let's look forward to the new season, we've got car reveals in a week, there's got to be more productive things to talk about.

:yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes: I an SO disappointed in Spanky and Operman! What's going on in this thread? Operaman and Spanky? You two are usually so good at sorting out the wheat from the chaff and I hear you arguing that Jenson was nearly as good as Lewis on 2012! That is SO Not the case! ( Hammer you forgot the 25 points for the petrol fiasco in Spain) Spanky would you like to offer Jenson red overalls?
But this is the Jenson support thread, so some positives, he's good at politics, he scores good points, he can go fast sometimes...sometimes very fast, but not often. He's good for smooching clients. He can get the team round him. He gets Japenese support. I think there's more but I can't remember them.
But those saying he's close to Hamilton :banghead::banghead: come on! Get real. Be honest to yourselves.

:( Don't hurt your head RC. Its only the old ABH syndrome. The guys don't really mean it

As we know the 'Anyone but Hamilton' syndrome is a natural and understandable reaction for some when suddenly acknowledging the presence of a true F1 giant that dwarves their own favorite.
They will all be Lewis fans by the middle of 2014 :hehe:
