Winter testing is going to be awesome with everyone holding their cards close to the vest. If any engines blow up during testing, that's going to be big.

Its purely about reacting to the current and newest reports and data that continue to throw up annoying and frustrating happenings at McLaren involving Button and/or Whitmarsh.

What, like saying they hope to get a podium this weekend? The nerve!

And some are of the opinion that no matter what new and terrible things happen then it shouldnt be commented upon because there have been so many of them over the past 4 years.

No, the point is you shouldn't blatantly misrepresent every single thing anyone at McLaren says.

And then there is the ridiculous notion that it is possible to BULLY a millionaire F1 driver by commenting on his perceived wrongdoings yet its ok to bully forum members for using a forum to vent their disapproval of a millionaire F1 driver

Oh, so now YOU are the one being bullied? For being called out on completely misinterpreting a basic, straightforward sentence?

Hopefully there will not be any Button happenings this weekend worthy of comment or we might see mental breakdowns amongst the more sensitive members

And yet again with the personal attacks, which the mods continue to do nothing about. It's not a matter of being sensitive. It's a matter of spewing false information all over the forum and then resorting to belittling the opinion of whoever disagrees with you.

'amongst the more sensitive members' this is not personal, I am not referring to any one person. Its not my fault you feel compelled to identify with it.

If i said you were a 'boring thicko' THAT would be a personal attack

Taking time out to direct your irritating posts at a member is personal

I suggest you stop

:rofl::rofl:

that would be him in 20 years on the BBC couch saying 'well in my day, I could have won 6 WDCs but I was always a sitting duck as I never had any grip'

Just read about the passing of Jenson's dad.

RIP John Button

He was always present during races and he did look healthy despite his age so this is a bit surprising...

I'm guessing No.22's days are numbered now. Bets on him being shafted end of this year, anyone? Dennis didn't even like Coulthard, called him a whinger...what's he going to think of No.22? I look forward to post-qualifying and post-race interviews.

Very true, i can see it happening also but with these rumours about Alonso joining McLaren (at the back end of last season) for the future..i highly doubt he would want to work with Ron Dennis now that he's back.

It could even be that Whitmarsh's courting of Alonso was what gave Ron enough influence over the shareholders. Its not likely that they all wanted Alonso back. That could have been the final straw.

No way is Ron letting Alonso come back even if he wanted

Button is most definitely not a Ron driver and he will be gone as soon as possible, depending on the 1 year extension and if it can be broken cheaply I see him gone for 2014. And even if he stays and struggles at the start with the new tail happy torque monster car( which is a certainty), I can see Ron letting Vandorme drive in his place.

One thing is for sure, we wont see Button allwoed to do anything other than domibnate Mag and get the absolute best out of the car.

I don't think Ron would remove Button for 2014, already had too much simulator work etc and it's hard to do new seat fittings, and find a high class talent driver who just happens to be out of a drive (That is only if Ron becomes F1 manager, as far as has been announced so far MW is still in charge of the F1 team). At this late stage keeping Button for one more year makes sense, particularly if Ron does become TP and starts making changes in the structure of the team, you don't want to be mixing that with a new driver mid-season.

Whilst I still think Button is a high class driver, I feel he has reached his peak and isn't the right man to lead McLaren, he's clearly not that good at feedback but when he is in the right zone, he's a great driver; just that zone has a narrower window than a Pirelli tyre.

I agree, I think McLaren's views on 2014 are the same as what Mercedes views were about 2013. Let's just build the foundation for next year. I don't however think they'll have the same unintended success Merc saw last year though. This "new" McLaren is all about the 2015 renascence with Honda. I hope Magnussen is there to see the beginning of it. Don't know who he'll be paired with, certainly not Button.

Good points lemon

Ron is now in complete executive control of the team, he can make any decisions he wants right now about anything and can only be challenged at the next board meeting, or if an emergency meeting is called. even then he would have to be voted out of the position to stop him doing what he wants on a day to day basis.

Whitmarsh remains TP, but is under Rons orders. Ron can order him to drop Button and thats that till the board meeting mentioned above.

If you read my post you will see that I didnt mention looking for a high class driver, he has Vandorme, a rookie who is as good as Mag.

We dont know what Ron will do but he can do anything he wants, and his history suggests that he has a good eye for drivers and will make big decisions and deal with them.

Like Hammer said he doesnt tolerate drivers who have peaked or who blame the car
