Again, it's about respect, just like Ferrari's participation on this occasion:

Ferrari will this weekend help support the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant by arranging for the famous 4th Mounted Carabinieri Regiment to perform at the Windsor Park event.

The Queen – 60 years of Royal cars

In addition, Ferrari chairman Luca di Monetezemolo will also represent Ferrari at the Pageant on Sunday night – the same event that will be attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II herself.

The Carabinieri will perform the Historic Carosello at the event. Ferrari says this is a “stunning display of horsemanship” which is performed to music and is intricate yet fluid.

Showcasing the skills and agility of both horses and riders, it’s choreographed to music and culminates in a dramatic and thrilling final charge.

“It is a source of great pride to Ferrari to be making such a significant contribution to the celebration and also that two such internationally renowned representatives of Italian excellence have the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the most important Monarchs of our time.”

The Diamond Jubilee Pageant runs from May 10-13. The Ferrari-supported Carabinieri performance will be one of many highlights planned for the Windsor Park extravaganza.

Ferrari’s famous logo depicts a prancing horse, which the firm has used since 1929. Legend has it, Enzo Ferrari chose the cavallino rampante symbol after meeting Countess Paolina, mother of Count Francesco Baracca – an Italian national hero of World War 1 who used to paint a horse on the side of his planes.

Forgot to mention one of the most obvious reasons for the tribute to the Carabinieri!

The reminder was triggered by the Italian National Anthem! Fratelli d'Italia (Brothers of Italy)!
It's a very patriotic song calling for Italians to band together to keep the country independent and united.

As Italy's national police force, that's the mission the Carabinieri are dedicated to; thus, Ferrari's tribute!

Seems that's a concept car, called the Casco Rosso (Red Helmet)

wrote:">Futuristic Ferrari CascoRosso Looks The Real DealImage

Another futuristic Ferrari rendering has been produced this time courtesy of designer Dejan Hristov. Dubbed the Ferrari CascoRosso, this outlandish Ferrari concept certainly looks the hood!

Hristov created the Ferrari CascoRosso as a replacement to the still relatively new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. He has taken inspiration from the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO and blended that vehicles world-famous styling with a host of more modern touches.

Image

One of the most unique features of the Ferrari CascoRosso is that it doesn’t feature wing mirrors as they have been replaced by two cameras found near the roof. These cameras would then link up to a display in the cabin providing perfect views out the rear without the need for a rear window.

, Matthew Somerfield wrote:">Tech Talk: What have Ferrari got in the pipeline?

Ferrari made it clear before Canada that they had a significant number of development tweaks to try out during the course of the weekend with a view to implementing the successful parts in forthcoming races – Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso were busy chaps in Montreal.

Tech guru Matthew Somerfield looks at some key components which the Maranello outfit tested during the course of the Canadian GP weekend.

Ferrari arrived in Montreal with new bodywork that looked to enhance the F14T’s properties, tailoring it to the circuits mid downforce requirements. The package is something that has likely been in development since the start of the season and pre-dates the package introduced by the team for the Spanish GP.

I mention this because although the package clearly updated the engine cover and sidepods it meant the team returned to their previous rear wing support pylons, rather than using the singular Y-Lon support.

Image

Just as Mercedes did a few races ago, the newest package tested by Ferrari elongated their sidepods to alter their aerodynamic and cooling performance. With this package the sidepods extend past the front of the suspension elements, with cut-outs to allow the suspension the freedom of movement it requires.

This of course makes the sidepods a larger aerodynamic surface and so their shape is amended to make use of this too. This will also have an impact on where the slower moving internal airflow exits, placing it beyond the suspension elements, leading to a cleaner flow over the diffuser.

Placing it in this area could also lead to better extraction of the airflow as the other airflow structures pull on it, speeding up the more turbulent, slower and warmer airflow. Furthermore, the elongation means that the floor is less exposed to this slower moving airflow, extending the undercut.

Image

To further maximise the extension of the sidepods the team also trialled a more shapely airflow conditioner, with the arc that follows the line of the sidepod before horizontally connecting to the cockpit being increased in height.

The change is sidepod profile of course changes the cooling properties of the car and so whilst the sidepods grew in length, the engine cover outlet which surrounds the exhaust was tightened, allowing the team to simply meet the dimensional constraints of the engine cover with a shark fin.

Although the results initially seemed quite positive the team decided that as the temperatures rose at the circuit they would switch back to a specification akin to the pre-Spain configuration (with the enlarged engine cover outlets, of which this engine cover was even larger, although the airflow conditioners were retained.)

I suspect that we will see a convergence of all of these ideas over the next few races as the team look to maximise both cooling and aerodynamic performance in this area, whilst taking care of the cars’ apparent lack of balance.

I admit, the CascoRosso looks pretty sweet.

Never liked any Ferrari supercar since the Testerossa and F50. But this one has potential.

Not sure on the name though. Maybe it is a tribute to Schumacher but they are going to see how the chips fall on that front before deciding properly

Just sounds like PR to keep interest on the team and hope for the supporters as they rebuild

This doesnt make sense at all though
But the Maranello outfit is having a difficult 2014 season, despite adding its last world champion - Kimi Raikkonen - to its driver lineup for this year.
Autosprint correspondent Alberto Antonini said the Finn seems to have taken on the role formerly held by Felipe Massa, who also struggled to keep up with Fernando Alonso.

So what are they saying, that Lewis would be a replacement for Kimi who was a replacement for Massa?
