Yup. Funny how that little nugget has been forgotten since 2006. Paffet was robbed imo, he was all shaped up for the drive and he put in some testing mileage too. He at least deserved to go to another F1 team, he's really good. Di Resta also needs and F1 drive.

Well, opportunity is still available. There are new teams coming in, Paffet is doing well in DTM again and if Kovalainen ends up being dropped by McLaren, I'd like Paffet to be given the chance. Failing that, he could try for a seat with another team, though with the newer teams that could be quite risky.

I'm curious, what's so great about grossjean? I wouldn't know to say they shouldn't use him, I just mean what about all the other candidates such as Senna or what about the forgotten Paffett who was neck and neck with Louise for the Mclaren seat at the beginning of 07? OR JV? don't tell me he wasn't intersted in it!

He was Renault's Test and Reserve driver, he was just logically the next in line. Doubtless, his contract demanded he be put in in the even that Piquet was dropped.

I don't think we'll ever see Paffet in F1.
Is he like 26 or somet?
And Di Resta, how old?

He's 28 we'll see him if prodrive enters.

perhaps he'll got to Mannor he'd be good with Di Resta a rookie and a experienced tester.

From autosport.com:

Piquet: Briatore is ignorant about F1

By Jonathan Noble and Edd Straw Thursday, August 13th 2009, 09:51 GMT

Nelson Piquet has renewed his attack on his former boss Flavio Briatore - claiming the Renault chief is 'ignorant' about Formula 1.

Having already labelled Briatore as his 'executioner' in an outspoken statement issued in the wake of him being dropped by the team, Piquet has again aimed his anger at the flamboyant Italian in a controversial interview with this week's AUTOSPORT.

"He is ignorant about Formula 1," said Piquet. "Maybe because of all the things that didn't favour me put me so low that he just didn't care. He didn't understand what is going on with the team.

"If you listen to the pit-wall radio, it's like a joke. He hasn't got a clue what is happening in the race. Sometimes he asks if a driver has slick or wet tyres when it is obvious.

"Everyone knows that his ego is bigger than anything else. He likes to show off. You can be a very good businessman and whatever, but the F1 team itself can do very well without him. When I first started he would attend all of the meetings and briefings, but taking away the business side, he makes comments that don't make any sense.

"The only good thing the team takes out of him is his good relationship with Bernie and the FIA. Other than that, he doesn't know what is going on. It's like listening to something my sister would say about the car. Pat Symonds is the guy who really understands what is going on with the team."

Briatore has declined to comment about Piquet's statements.

Piquet says he has no qualms about having gone on the attack in his statement and the AUTOSPORT interview after his dismissal from Renault.

"We're free to say whatever we feel like and I don't see why more drivers don't do that," he said. "It was important for everyone to know what has been going on and not to hide like a lot of other drivers tend to do because they are scared that it could put their career in danger."

Damn will he stop acting like a baby and move on - it was Biatore who was the bigger man here by refusing to comment. Piquet needs to get his attitude sorted, if he can't quickly pick him self up - not to mention dealing with adversary in the first place then he won't fulfil whatever potential he actually has.

Piquet Jr is just like his father in that he does not know when to shutup. Remember when Piquet Sr belittled Mansells mom or something to that effect?

And Piquet Senior also claimed Senna was a homosexual.

Both Piquets are classless corner boys.

And he practically said both things in almost the same breath.

I felt a little sorry for Piquet Jr. after he was first ditched, but now he is just acting ungratefully, just like his father.
