If Mclaren had any sense they would opt for Rosberg, he is an excellent driver when full of confidence. We can see that clearly now when he's in a strong Williams.

He'd probably be my second choice, shaded just by Vettel. I'd say Rosberg would be better for the short term (more experience, so less consistent and erratic), but I think Vettel is a little more talented and McLaren should be prepared to give a year or so to fully develop as a driver.

Di Resta is an option as well. He did very well in the junior formulae, even owning Vettel, but that does not necessarily mean he will do as well in Formula One, and he's not got the experience of either Rosberg or Vettel.

Personally if they are going to drop Kovalainen this year then Vettel is simply not an option for Mclaren - no matter how competitive they could be next year. Red Bull won't let him go i'm sure. Out of those who would be available, you would probably have to go with Rosberg.

Again Di Resta could be an option, and should be

How long as Kubica got left on his contract at BMW? I think he might have the option of leaving at the end of this season. Although the guy is talented, I do wonder what he is like to worth with? From the noises coming out of BMW over the past year or two, he sounds like a bit of a w***er.

I thought it was Kubica the noises were coming out of, especially the moaning. :hehe:

Both BMW drivers are out of contract at the end of the season.

Heidfeld is a nice guy and solid driver, but McLaren should have their sights set on somebody special. The team doesn't need another Kovalainen. Kubica is talented, but a bit of w***er. I could easily see a row erupting the team over who gets first choice on pit strategies, new parts, etc. Probably worth avoiding, McLaren.

Kubica was rumoured to have an option on his contract that would allow him to leave the team mid-season if he didn't have a certain amount of points to his name. Strangely, there's no talk of him not being retained for next year, but BMW Sauber are apparently considering not renewing Heidfeld's contract despite him being the better driver so far this year.

I wonder. If BMW Sauber were to drop him, and Williams retain both drivers, could he end up being considered by the McLaren management? When Ron Dennis was still in charge, I thought that it would be impossible (after the comments he made regarding Raikkonen getting the drive with them) but now that Whitmarsh is at the helm, I guess it could happen.

Nico would be better, two good friends on one team, both of them young, talented and kind of crazy ;D

Heidfeld would be a good choice

He needs to be paired with an aggressive driver. A team that consisted of, for example, Heidfeld and Button, would not work. I liked Heidfeld and Webber together. :)

Maybe BMW are sacking it in?
