Latest - RUBENS needed to change his gearbox. 5 place pen.

A race and a bit on the gearbox? Not good. Still, he can have another battle through the pack this week. And provided he doesn't damage his car, he could still fight for the win. :)

It did more than LH gearbox!

I the Brawn's as fast as suggested, then it shouldn't really matter whether Barrichello starts first or sixth. He's on for a podium at the least.

Hmm, i'm sure i heard pre-season that if there was any weakness on the Brawn car, it would most likely be the gearbox.

Didn't Jenson say he had to protect it last weekend during the race?

I dont know why they dont use a McLaren box like Force India do? i know Lewis had issues last round but i think that was just a one off!

oh and anyone know if Brawn will be using a McLaren KERS system or their original Honda one?

Extra cost implications. Plus, the gearbox that they developed along with the car was supposed to be pretty good. If you've got the kit already, why buy more?

What Denthul said, plus they probably feel that they know the Honda developed one inside out and so can work more effectively with it. As for KERS, was it Honda who reckoned last year that they felt they'd made more progress with it than anyone else?

thats what i was thinking, i remember them saying they had a good KERS system. but then again they may not have the budget to develop it any further now?

Hmm, hard to say, it's definitely either that or maybe their car's performance is helped so much by not having it they just won't bother with it... or possibly they are just concentrating developing an amazing system for next year, although surely they'd use it in races to help develop it. :scratchchin:

they would have had issues mating it with the Mercedes engine.

Good point actually.

EDIT: say, does anyone know if they are repeating the qualifying on BBC? I have to work tomorrow. :(

Sadly no, but i'm sure it'll be put on Iplayer later in the day - or you can probably catch it through the red button if you have Sky.
